5.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful and Choose the Right Size
My shirt size is "M" and this strap fits fine on me, considering that I used it totally extended, so don't be fooled by the XXL size. Buy only the X - XS only if you are really skinny.

Also be aware that this replacement strap can't not be used with the old transmitters (T31 or T61), I know is obvious, but just in case.

The new design is superior in a number of ways to the original wearlink strap: it's more comfortable, easier to put on, and the transmitter does not touch your skin (and therefore isn't exposed to sweat). If your Polar wrist watch came with one of the old transmitters, you should seriously consider changing it for the Wearlink. One big improvement from the original transmitters (T31 or T61 transmitters) is that with this model (the Wearlink) you only have to buy a new battery and replace it once they ran out and your transmitter is ready to use again. With the original ones you have to buy a new transmitter every time the battery dies, since the whole structure is sealed. So if your Polar wrist watch came with the T31 or T61, wait until the battery is finished and buy the Wearlink transmitter instead, you will save a lot of money over the years (compare the 39.95 US$ that the T31 or T61 cost vs the cost of a replacement battery).

The other big advantage is that the Wearlink transmitter is more confortable to wear, since it adapts better to the shape of your body since even the electrodes are flexible and are embedded in the fabric. Being flexible and all makes it easier to storage it your pocket when your finish training or if you are traveling.

In summary a great product for your Polar HRM, and a smart improvement if it is time to replace your old transmitter. Don't buy another T31 or T61, buy this one instead.

I run with my Polar six days a week, and probably train about ten hour a week with it. I used to have the T31 with my first Polar (the M61) so I can tell you first hand the Wearlink is far better. In summary more confortable, easier to wash, and a money saver. I was more than happy to trow the old one away after I bought this one.

The new design is superior in a number of ways to the original wearlink strap: it's more comfortable, easier to put on, and the transmitter does not touch your skin (and therefore isn't exposed to sweat). Unfortunately, there is a serious weak link in the design: There is a metal hook at one end of the strap that catches onto a fabric loop at the other end, holding the strap together. The fabric loop isn't strong enough, and mine tore off after about two months. You'll see similar complaints in other reviews. There is no easy way to repair the problem. Unfortunately, if you need a replacement strap for your wearlink transmitter, this seems to be the only game in town.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great replacement, but be careful of the size, February 17, 2011

This review is from: Polar Wearlink Strap (Misc.)
I bought this Wearlink+ strap to replace the strap that came with my FT60 heart rate monitor. The FT60 originally came with the M-XXL strap, which had an okay fit, but I replaced it with the XS-S strap.

The new strap works with the FT60 and fits comfortably, so I'm glad that I went with the smaller size. However, people between sizes may want to go up to the M-XXL strap. The XS-S strap says it fits 21" - 38". My ribcage is 29" and the strap fits comfortably when it is almost completely extended. It seems like it might be too tight for someone with a 38" ribcage.

3.0 out of 5 stars seemingly designed to break, January 15, 2011

[ASIN:B000OL06A4 Polar Wearlink Strap]

By design, it's inevitable that the loop which the metal hook slips into will rip. Now if it happens in 5 years, that's acceptable to me. But that is not the case as pointed out by other reviewers. I can think of several easy ways that that loop can be reinforced that won't incur more cost... Why won't polar do it? This shouldn't discourage you from getting it because you got no other choice. But if you know how to sew, this problem can be addressed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Strap Re-Design, January 3, 2010

keyalus "keyalus" (Acworth, GA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Polar Wearlink Strap (Sports)
I have been a longtime fan of Polar products. I recently purchased a new Wearlink transmitter and replacement chest strap. I immediately noticed the chest strap redesign. The chest strap now uses a side-hook and loop combination to fit around your chest instead of a snap design. I was very skeptical of the longevity of this type of design and my skepticism was unfortunately rewarded. After only 2 weeks, the thin black fabric loop of fabric near the side hook peeled off. Then after little more than a month of fairly light use (3X/week, 45 minute sessions) the stitching that creates the loop for the side hook ripped off completely. I can no longer wear the strap so I am without a heart rate monitor again. If mine ripped after such a short time, I can only imagine how long this strap will last as a whole. The version with the snaps lasted me for years. Why in the world did they change it?

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but will not hold much more than a year, February 6, 2010

This review is from: Polar Wearlink Strap (Sports)
I am using Polar HRM for more than 10 years. The new belt is by far much more convenient, however even if you will be very careful with it - never wash it in the washing machine, wash it in cold water by hand and keep it straight all the time it will wear-out within less than 2 years. According to Polar it should hold about a year on daily use. I would expect more for such a price.

5.0 out of 5 stars This will fix your polar, January 6, 2012

My 2-3 year old polar was not working properly. Would not pick up a signal, or if it did it showed my HR at 216 BPM. I changed out the transmitter battery, no change. I changed out the watch battery, no change. I got this strap and now my polar works as good as new. So if you polar HR monitor is acting flaky get this. Kudos to Polar for not charging a rip-off price for this essential item.

After receiving the item, I just placed the transmitted onto it from the old one, and it worked great out of the box!

I have an FT 40 - just for other people searching, it worked great.
