I am calorie and activity obsessed and I occasionally wear my Polar F11 just when I'm running around all day, shopping, lugging packages or doing housework just so that I can monitor how many calories I am burning doing all these not so lazy activities. I don't enjoy wearing the strap all day long, but again as I previously said; I am calorie and activity obsessed, so one must do what one must do. Anyway, when I received the Polar Newsletter talking about this Activity Monitor, I got so excited because the way it was describe was that it would keep track of ALL of your daily activity and could actually be worn 24/7. I purchased it right away! I wore it one day while doing my errands and housework and it kept telling me that I was being LAZY! It only registers if you are walking very fast and not if you are just doing running up and down of stairs, sweeping, lugging grocery bags or anything. I one day wore it along with my Polar F11 and the activity monitor said I was only active for about 6 minutes and burned only 10 calories when my Polar F11 registered my full amount of time and registered that I burned about 298 calories for the same amount of time wearing both. My friend changed the info on it and tried as she worked out on her treadmill and was not at all accurate for distance, time and again calories vs what the treadmill registered. I know that the treadmills are not 100% accurate for tracking, but they are at least right on the money for the amount of time that you are on it. The Activity Monitor didn't even come close to the same amount of time. I am truly disappointed with this purchase and I wish I didn't rush into the decision as quickly as I did! I will probably never put it on my wrist ever again. I am just hoping that I will be able to sell it to someone else and try to recoup some of what I invested. We will see! I just also wish and hope moving forward that Polar will change its advertising on this product and not fool people into thinking that it will monitor all activity and will not monitor your activity accurately! I otherwise am very happy with my other Polar product and will not hold this against Polar for future purchases which I think I want an updated heart rate monitor to register more data than mine currently does. In summary, this is not worth your money! DO NOT BUY IT!

I had the same problems as another reviewer, I didn't find it sensitive enough for activities outside of running. It hardly registered my daily walking and it doesn't register when I ride a bike or attend spin class.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Watch for a While, May 13, 2010

I loved this watch when I purchased it. The fitness monitor was great and was pretty accurate in the beginning. However, I don't trust the calorie reading at all and I found it difficult to wear this watch all the time because one workout pretty much filled up the fitness levels for the day! Now that I've had this watch for about a year, it is becoming very inaccurate. It tells me I'm running when I'm sitting down!

It's a great watch in the beginning but don't expect something that will last you for years! Also, I wouldn't recommend white. Unless you only wear it sporatically, the color will turn a greyish color. A black or colored watch would probably look more attractive for a longer period of time.

Small details, does not have flowers on band and is a creamy white. Watch is easy to figure out. Some people complained about sensitivity. This watch has a motion detector not a heart rate monitor so it doesn't register every time you are meandering or slightly moving, rather it is registering actual activity that has bigger movements (where you are actually swinging your arms). It will pick up movement while you are walking, jogging, shopping, etc. It is a reality check, that if you want to consider yourself active you may need to do a little more and this will show you how much you are doing daily so you can improve. This watch is good for becoming active in small ways or for a daily monitor. I'm not sure if the calorie counter is completely accurate because it is simply taking into account the movement. I look forward to buying a more advanced one with a heart rate monitor that will be better for workouts. All in all this is a great watch for motivation to start doing just a little more throughout your day!

Even though I search under "heart rate monitor" and this item was on the results, it is not a heart rate monitor. Not what I wanted when I opened the box.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, December 9, 2010
I'm from Costa Rica, buy this watch November 26 and yesterday I received in my country and my unpleasant surprise when open the Polar box is different from the photo, has no designs on the wrappers and precisely by this detail was so I bought for my wife. Now what can I do? Just give her a watch in cream without any grace.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for the typical athletic polar customer, July 13, 2010
By
Aim (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
When I first got the watch, I was so excited... I loved the way it looked and loved watching it track my movement throughout the day. I walk and/or run a few miles each day and so I thought this would be a great alternative to a heart rate monitor, since I wasn't really "training" per say. Based on how the watch was marketed, I felt that I would be able to accurately track my distance walked/run and calories burned throughout the day. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED with how inaccurate the readings were... after I started challenging the readings (with my odometer on my car), I realized that it is pretty much always off by about .5 miles. For a walk, I think the calories are pretty accurate, but like some other reviews have mentioned the watch does not accurately track any activity outside of walking or running... it barely registers a 30 kick boxing class where I am swinging my arms all over the place?!? I feel like I paid alot of money for a watch that doesn't do much more than my brain could do if I thought back about what I did that day. Not a horrible product, its just confusing because the typical Polar customer is way more fit than the type of person who would benefit from this watch. Spend your money on a body bug or something instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not do what it said it would, May 30, 2010
This review is from: Womens Polar FA20 Fitness Computer (Sports)
This device did not read my primary mode of excercise which is cycling. it gives readings that are way too low, inconsistent, tells you you are having a lazy day even when you have been active, it is simply a rip off. I am currently trying to trade it for another device more specific to cycling. Do yourself a favor and skip buyin this one.

Very simple to use and easy to set up. I've been using this every day for a few weeks now and use the data to keep track of my progress. Not too bulky and the backlight is easy to read. Just wish it came in purple... :) If you are looking for ease of use (and aren't looking for heart rate monitor) then this product will do you just fine.
