Polaris RMK Adult Dual Suspension Bike

11-29-10. This will not be a standard review but will have some helpful hints---hope it will help you.
My Goal was to find (using reviews and ratings) the best dual suspension/disk brake mountain bike
for under 300 dollars
Based on reviews and ratings from different web sites it came down to the following three.
1. GMC Topkick, made by Kent Bicycle.
2. Polaris RMK made by Ming Cycle in Taiwan (seen above)
3. Victory Vegas Low---Ming Cycle

Although the GMC Topkick is a 4-star bike, I ruled it out because it is more bulky looking and it
is a few pounds heavier than the other 2 bikes and there were many reviews claiming a front dérailleur
shifting (inherent) problem and complaints the handlebars could not be raised.

The Polaris RMK comes in with great reviews and a 4 1/2 star rating. But in just one day Amazon raised
its price from 199 dollars to 267 dollars(nov 20,2010). -----After some more investigation it turned out
that the Polaris RMK is exactly the same bike as the Victory Vegas Low only with different colors and name.
The Victory is selling for a lot less than the Polaris and is (as of this date)189 dollars at Meijer,(where
I bought mine, see below).

The Polaris and the Victory are made by Ming Cycle out of Taiwan and distributed by an
American company---Cycle Force Group. Ming Cycle makes different brand name mountain bikes,
like Polaris, Kawasaki, Victory, Mantis, all of these can be found on Amazon and retailers
like Wall Mart, Target and Sears.------As it turns out the Polaris and the Victory are Ming's top
of the line dual suspension mountain bike with upgraded wheels and front disk brake and 19"frame
and generally reviewed and rated better than some of the mountain bikes that sell for more. So based
on reviews and ratings I think for a dual suspension mountain bike with front disk brakes
the Polaris or Victory is the way to go ---except that the Polaris price has been increased too much,
So go with the Victory Vegas Low, its the same bike!!!! and can be found on amazon but It can be bought
as of todays date 11-30-10 at Wall mart or Meijer's for under 200 dollars and with free shipping.

12-12-2010---Now Amazon lowered their price again even lower than the Victory Vegas and you can find it on Miejers for 187 dollars. Apparently Amazon raises the price when Walmart and Miejiers runs out of stock, then when they get restocked and have the lower price Amazon lowers their price------Anyways they are both the same bike so you have your choice of colors and one of them will always have the lower price.

I read all of the reviews, thought that it was going to be a great bike. It came with a flat, the rear brakes did not work, the front brakes eventually gave out (2 weeks) the gears hardly switched, and it just felt like riding a bike that had 200 miles on it. I ended up returning the bike, it was really bad. Every time I went and road this bike, I had to tweak it and fix it when I came back. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY, DO NOT BUY THIS BIKE. I suggested my friend buy it as well, and he had all of the same problems as I did. I don't know who reviewed this, but it was just pathetic. DO NOT BUY!!!
On a positive note, it only took me 5 days to get my money back after returning it. DO NOT BUY! I'm not kidding this thing is a real piece of junk.

This bike arrived damaged. The box was torn open, and the crank was bent and destroyed. Even if it had arrived intact, the bike is considerably smaller and of a lesser quality than advertised. I still have not received my reimbursement, although I have sent the product back and submitted my return form at amazon.com. A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

I bought this bike and just received it a week ago. I had it professionally assembled. The front disk brake is not/not a good component, poorly designed, and does not work. The bike store stated it was not standard, and it is very rough even after several adjustments. The gears are not as smooth as other reviews indicated. They shift just as rough as other cheap bikes with cheap components. I was really excited to get this bike for my 10yr old son after reading the reviews, and was disappointed after it was assembled. I suppose you get what you pay for, but I was certainly expecting more. I agree with jesse d flynn's review more than any other on this site.

We bought this bike 1 month ago for my 11 y/o son who rides it 1.3 miles to school each day (jumping every curb & bump along the way. He is 5'2 & the bike fits him well(seat low position) with room to grow.
Assembly, It arrived mostly put together. We (mom & son) attached pedals, handlebar, seat & front tire(quick release anyway) without problems. The gears were pre-assembled & needed nothing further. The brakes (incl. front wheel disk) were also pre-assembled & needed some adjustment(dad). Parts were undamaged on arrival.
Performance, my son says the shocks are "smooth" The gears are working fine. He has had one more brake adjustment.
Considering my son is still growing, & the possibility of the bike being stolen, we didn't want to spend $1000+ for a name brand 'full suspension' bike. We are satisfied with the quality of this bike - a good value!

When Amazon has this bike in stock for around $196, it is hard to beat it for value. It is a solid bike all around, with good gears, good disk brake in front, decent seat, and overall a good ride. As noted by others, you will probably have to do some adjusting of the gears and the disk brake, but that's to be expected. Also, although my bike arrived without any damage, I have bought other bikes online in the past, and they have had damage in shipping. It just seems to be a risk that's involved with an online purchase of this type. I would add that my bike shipped with a faulty fork, but the customer service was first rate and fast. They were the ones who diagnosed the problem over the phone and had a new fork sent out to me in a few days. I had forgotten how nice it was to be able to get a support person on the phone right away, even better to find a knowledgeable individual on the other end who could diagnose the problem with no trouble.

I got my bike just 4 days ago and the bike is awesome! The only problem it's that at thetime I was putting the bike together I found a big dent on my front l wheel and I don't want to wait or pay for shipping Back

This bike showed up very quickly & the packaging seemed sufficient, but when we opened the box & began putting it together we realized that there were some pretty bad gouges in the paint on the underside of the bar that leads to the pedal assembly. It had to have been packed & sent that way because there was no outward damage to the box. It's very disappointing to see that it was sent with that kind of damage because of the expectations you have from Amazon.com but I wasn't about to try to repackage the bike & pay to ship it back. Also, it was a gift & I needed it right then, not however long it would have taken to send it back & wait for a new one. Hopefully we can touch up the damage & hide it somewhat. Other than that, the bike was very nice & and as it was a gift, it's being enjoyed regardless of the scratches & gouges.

I love this Polaris RMK bicycle. It's very well put together, smooth with a great design.
