This thing is heavy, so I’d recommend making sure a pair of strong hands are home on the day it is delivered to help out the poor UPS/FED-Ex guy/girl. It comes in an obvious box, so if your mail tends to be stolen from your doorstep, the person will see exactly what you’ve been delivered. (Another reason to be home when it’s delivered)

It comes fully assembled, minus the wheels. Those have to be put onto the generator. The wheels are on the small side, so while they DO make the job of moving this thing around much easier, the wheels weren’t made to roll across gravel/rough surfaces.

It seems that some have received an oil can with this generator, but mine did not come with one. If yours doesn’t, you will have to buy a funnel or an oil can. That’s the only way to get oil in this generator, and you WILL need to put oil in it before starting it. My husband had a hard time getting his hand to fit inside enough to get the lid off the oil dipstick. Discovering that the battery can be removed(by removing two wingnuts) made this job much easier, so we recommend removing the battery before filling it with oil. (It needs about 0.6 quarts of oil.)

The gas goes in the top. It holds almost 3 1/2 gallons.

This is an electric start generator, which is wonderful! You’ll get two sets of keys. You’ll use one set to lock the maintenance door, and the other to start the generator. Just turn the key, and it’s running!

It’s quiet while running. It’s not silent, by any means, but I was pleasantly surprised that it doesn’t blast its presence to the world.

It works well with what we’ve tested it on.

Overall, we’re very pleased with this generator!

The PolarisPower P3000ie is more expensive than a standard 3000watt generator (It is about 5x more expensive compared to an entry level model). The Polaris Power P3000ie is certainly not an entry level generator. it is easy to set-up, easy to use, very quiet, and well built.

Notes-

- 4 cycle engine - lots of quiet power. The engine has an automatic throttle that allows it to ramp up to higher RPMS when a larger load is being applied. This allows, at lower loads, to operate much quieter and more fuel efficiently.

- Extremely quiet, especially at low loads, you can have a normal conversation over the sound from the generator.

- This more of a small job site, tailgate, camping generator than a whole house generator. While the Polaris Power P3000iE can power power a refrigerator or a sump pump in the even of a power outage - this is not something that will power your entire home. Since it is 2800 watts /25amps - you will need to be selective in what you choose to power.

- The automatic start feature is fantastic. I will recommend that you laminate the instruction and maybe tie them to the generator's handle.

- I am impressed with Polaris - the generator is expensive - but they treat it as an expensive generator. They provide a nozzle for filling the oil, and oil measuring cup, and even an extra spark plug.

- They do recommend that you run it every few months - this will help keep the fuel lines cleaned and keep the battery (for the auto start) charged up.

- It comes with wheels, but they must be attached. About a 10 minute job.

- Large gas tank - the claim is that at 25% load the generator can run for 21 hours. The top of the fuel cap has a fuel indicator.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This particular item was shipped UPS. So, it isn't the manufacturers fault that it arrived battered with the boarded palate under it broken and the sides torn. Of course, the fact that UPS also delivered this on its side made it problematic for me. And, it didn't help that it arrived only one hour before a tornado passed overhead. No worries on needing this immediately, since it was 80 degrees outside.

As a result, It took awhile, but I finally scooted the box into the garage where I was able to cut it open.

I had read the manual online in advance, so I really wasn't surprised by a lot! Yes, you do have to assemble the wheels. Yes, it is a pain to do this - not so much since UPS already had it on its side! Of course, the best part of downloading the manual is that you can actually read it clearly.

Other than the wheels, this arrives fairly ready to go. You will need to purchase oil for this (3 bottles to start) as well as gasoline. The safety feature shuts it off if the oil gets low so that you don't have to be concerned. It is also just as easy to start as my husband's riding mower.

As one of your options, this has a 30 amp twist lock. This allows you to work with your electrician and use this to actually power two breakers in your home rather than use the extension cords. However, since we are using this for occasional use, we opted to purchase the power cords and run them into the house.

This gives very clear instructions on keeping gas in it - you will need to purchase STA-BIL which will help keep your gas from gathering moisture. It gives a max of 10% ethanol, which is likely what your local gas station carries. The reason for the limit on ethanol is that it deteriorates the gas quickly by gathering moisture.
