I have commented on another review but here is my own.
It tends to stay in the deep end, almost ignoring the shallow end..it does not clean my steps and gets stuck on the walls.
The robot has no problems climbing the walls and does a good job of cleaning the entire pool.

Verified Purchase
Like many people I struggled to make a decision between this model and competitive models that offer similar functionality. I decided to go with the Polaris 9300 Sport because it was getting good reviews from other buyers on Amazon, and it seemed to have some advantages going for it that other models did not. I don't typically write reviews but this is an expensive purchase and other reviews were key in my decision making so I wanted to help other people out who are having a tough time making a decision.

So here are my initial pros/cons, after 5 or 6 runs of the cleaner:

1) Unlike some other units I was interested in (such as the Aquabot T4) this unit is less expensive and comes with a cart (vs. it being an optional accessory). I didn't think I'd care about the cart but I have to say it makes moving the robot to/from my garage very easy. The unit is not heavy for a man but throw in all the cord and the AC to DC converter/control box and it would be a lot to manage in one trip without the cart. A definite plus over competitors.

2) The design of the cartridge that catches the dirt/debris from the pool is excellent when it comes to emptying the robot after it's cycle. Simply raise the robot lid, pull out the cartridge, and open it up. Then I take a hose and spray the debris out from the outside. Takes 30 seconds. I read that other units have bags and are difficult to remove and this makes it easy for me to clean after every run.

3) I have a large (39,500 gal, 40x20 ft) pool and so I set this on the 2.5 hour cycle. It randomly drives around and covers the whole pool.

I've had this for 3 months now (see current updates below) and have used it at least once a week. It works as advertised and is easy to use and maintain. One reviewer said it was "horrendous" but provided no details. Maybe they got a bad copy? If so, they should contact Polaris about it. I talked with them (on the phone, a US based rep, without waiting long) about their guarantee, which is for 2 years, better than most, and they told me they usually send a technician out to look at it. He also said that since this is an important product for Polaris, their first robotic cleaner in the US, (which, by the way, has been sold in other parts of the world for several years before they brought it to the US market) they want to make sure they are aware of any issues and fix them right away. I have never owned a robotic or other form of automatic pool cleaner, so I have nothing to compare it to. Assembling this product consists mainly of the portable storage rack that comes with it. The only issue I have with the design is that the long robot cord has to be manually unwound from the rack; I wish they had a vacuum cleaner type mechanism with one hook that twists to open up the loop so you can slide the whole wound up cord off at once. To use it I unwind the long robot cord, walk the robot to the farthest end of the pool so that the robot's floating cord stretches out over the water, put it in the pool, letting water fill it up so it sinks, plug in the robot's long cord to the control box (built in to the rack), plug in the power cord, set the program and let it work. There is a 1.5 and 2.5 hour program. The only difference is that in the 1.5 hour program the robot does not climb up the pool wall to clean along the water line.Read more ›

I have just purchased the Polaris 9300 Sport to replace a real piece of crap Aquabot Turbo TRC that I purchased and returned on Amazon.com. Still waiting for my full refund so we'll see what happens...

The 9300 is a really good product. It cleans well and does what the ad says it will do...unlike the POS Aquabot with it's toy train remote control, (what a rip off!), and impossible bag design.

The 9300 does the job and the cartridge filter is very easy to clean and return to the bot for another trip around the pool. It scrubs the walls and waterline well and is very convienient to use. Includes a nice caddy to hold everything as well.

I shopped around for about a month before I took a chance on the Aquabot and was extremely sorry I did. All the reviews say the Aquabot is so great...but who are these people? Aquabot sales maybe? All I know is I bought the POS and it was horrible and everything in the ads were lies. I have to repack it and ship it back, (still waiting for my refnd from Amazon), and that's exactly what I did not want to have to do.

I've bought the 9300 and I'm happy with my purchase so far. I recommend it as the only one out there that actually works.

UPDATE: It's been 12 weeks since my purchase of the Polaris 9300 and 10 weeks since I sent in all the required stuff for my $100 rebate from Polaris for my expensive purchase. I went to their rebate site and the site says i don't have any rebate. I've sent an email to Polaris/Zodiac customer service asking why I haven't received my rebate as promised and why their system can't find my $100 rebate.
