Polaris Vac-Sweep 65 6-130-00 Pressure Side Automatic Pool Cleaner for Above Ground Vinyl Pools

We've had our above ground 24' round pool for going-on 3 summers now. We've used the vacuum attached to a pole until now. When my husband left on deployment he left detailed instructions on how to hook up the manual vacuum and it worked. The problem I had was that my arms weren't strong enough to keep the vacuum on the bottom of the pool #with the pole extended# and so I could never get the entire floor clean.

Complaining to my neighbors #who have an in-ground pool and a service tech# he recommended the Polaris. Subsequently, the technician at our local pool supply store ALSO recommended it #even though they didn't sell it#. I looked it up on several websites and did some price comparisons and finally decided to give it a try #Amazon Prime free shipping nudged me in the right direction#.

It took me 15 minutes to read the manual, assemble the few parts that didn't come connected, and hook it up to the pool. Let me reiterate: I read the directions.

Dropped it in the pool and watched it for a few minutes, not actually seeing anything get "sucked up" like I did with the manual vacuum, so I walked away, keeping my fingers crossed that it was going to work.

An hour later I came out to find the floor of the pool spotless and it still humming away, gliding back and forth. Took me just a few more minutes to disconnect it, drain the water from the hoses, and put it away. I LOVE IT!

Just a few pointers that did NOT come with the directions:

The unit attaches to the OUTPUT of the filtration system. Use the LOW setting of the filter, otherwise the thing shoots across the pool like a submarine and the bag won't set on the bottom of the pool.
Also, the store rep told me that the unit should be stored in its own plastic container FREE of debris like rocks, sand, grass and such. They use them at the store to clean the display pools and he said they'd throw them out of the pool, into the mulch, and once the debris gets into the unit it's all but impossible to get it to work properly. Plastic storage unit at Target is a small price to pay to keep my Polaris happy!

The Polaris works better than any other above ground pool cleaner I have ever used. The only drawback is that I have a 30 foot pool and it cant seem to clean it all so I still have to vacuum. Adjusting the water pressure on the unit is alittle maddening also.

The Polaris 65 does not have a pressure adjustment on it like some others and that's important because my pump which is a standard pump had a bit too much pressure for it and it did not want to clean near the side of the pool that the hose connects, I fixed this by just looping the hose and let it clean near the hose side of the pool then later unloop it for the rest of the pool, but This thing does work as advertised

i ordered the polaris vac sweep and when it came to house the most important part was missing the all-purpose bag. my wife has tried to contact Amazon but has not been able to get talk to anyone unless you want to wait on the phone for 45 to 60 minutes,most people can not afford to be seating aroind waiting this much time to talk to someone about a problem, to me this is totally unsat.

I was a LONG time user of the Zodiac Zippy pool cleaner. They took it off the market! I was faced with finding a comparable product that did as good as my Zippy. Well, I took a chance on the Polaris 65. The ease of installation was very nice. I was very much the skeptic, but my pool has stayed clean. Simple, easy to install, no nightmares with hoses and with 1/4 turn, the unit is disconnected from the wall! Can't ask for much more. With all my research, Polaris 65 is currently the best on the market for above ground pools.

What a disappointment...Received the Polaris and it's missing the bag...No response from Amazon on a replacement .
I purchase a lot of items from Amazon so I'm disappointed that I did not receive a response to my complaint regarding the missing bag.

I bought this because of the good reviews it has been getting, and I think this is a pretty good product.

Positives:
+Easy to install. This just had a couple of fitting to screw together and then it was ready to work.
+After Initial Setup it is just a quick turn fitting to get the Vac-Sweep Running
++Cleans my Whole Pool - We had a Baracuda Ranger and it had problems getting around the whole pool. This makes its way around the stairs and both the far and near end of the pool
++Fast - Have a 24ft round above ground pool and this can get to the whole thing within an hour.
+Picks up little (larger than dirt particles) to large debris without a problem, it had no problem picking up my daughters goggles she left in the pool.

Negatives
--This is not a vacuum, and it does not perform as well as one. Small dirt like particles are not captured in the bag, it only sprays them off of the bottom of the pool so they cloud your water. It would be nice if it actually filtered the smaller particles, so instead it is leaving it up to the filter to do the work.
-It does not come with the eye fitting to make your filter output a Jet. Instead we had to go to the pool supply store and pick one up for $15. The fitting is a must have for ease of switching back and forth between the vacuum and the jet.

Overall this is a pretty good product with one major drawback.

After ordering a Diver Dave pool cleaner, poor Dave had to go back because of a neighbor's oak tree that likes to dump acorns and leaves into the north end of our pool. He plugged up constantly. The Polaris 65 works perfectly to clean the bottom of the pool and not plug or jam. Once you get the water pressure adjusted, which is simple if you read the instructions, the device works! So far we have not had any randomizer issues. We have an 18x33 above the ground pool. You won't need to purchase the extra hose for this size pool. It works out perfectly with out having to alter the hose length.

Complete failure. I don't understand how this made it out of any sort of R&D cycle.
The unit is designed to push itself around the pool. Okay simple enough but it pushes TOWARDS it's supply hose. As you might imagine; it is constantly getting caught in it own hose. Never mind the pointed edges that catch on the ladder and skimmer intake, my unit can stick it self on the long straight side of the pool with nothing other than it's own hose.
I have tried for days to get my to work right. I can stand there and constantly untangle the device, position it around the pool, or just be very patient and see if it clears up. Nothing works.

I decided to change my review to from 1 to 2 stars. They bag unit under the float does fairly well, the trick is it will on work in the small area where the float is stuck. I call this a semi-automatic pool cleaner.

Did I mention that every so often, when it gets really good and tangled on it hose, it will flip itself upside down and start emptying my pool into the neighbors yard?

Bought this after dealing with a foolish manual vac that didn't work well at all. Bottom of pool was always a mess. Did a search on Amazon and found this little gem. Does a fabulous job! Clean as a whistle with very little labor. You can even swim while it's cleaning the pool. Love it!
