Well we bought a Polaroid TV with built in DVD player Nov 2, 2008. Within a few months the DVD player stopped reading DVD's and would make a clicking noise. After waiting on hold for close to an hours they told me I had to pay to ship it back. Over a month later I called and waited on hold about another hour to be told I never sent it in. So when I told them I had proof from the post office I got a new DVD player in the mail within a week. Now, 4 days after my 1 year warranty the "new" DVD player goes out again. (Same clicking noise as before and then says "No Disk".) So after waiting on hold 20 min. I get a guy and he tells me I've never called in before and when I tell him it shouldn't matter he takes my name and address and then puts me on hold for another 15 minutes before I have to hang up. After reading other complaints I'm waiting to see how much longer until the screen goes out completely. What a rip off!

Very Poor Digital Reception,

This TV has terrible Digital reception. It gets less than half the channels I can get with two other digital TVs. I've tried all types of antennas and a separate amplifier. No improvement. I sent it off for repair and it came back the same. I think it was just designed with a very poor digital tuner. It works fine for Analog signals but they are going away soon. I would never buy this TV again.

Just like other reviewers POOR.,
This review is from: Polaroid 1913-TDXB 19" LCD and Built-In DVD Combo (Electronics)
We bought this TV for our morning "getting ready" bathroom. We wanted news and weather for the day. We can only pick up two of the four channels in our area and our other TV's get the signals crystal clear. To be fair I took the TV to each location of the other TV's and STILL couldn't pick up any more signals! Just a poor performer for digital signals. Save your anguish and buy another brand.

Garbage, don't waste your money on Polaroid tv's,
This review is from: Polaroid 1913-TDXB 19" LCD and Built-In DVD Combo (Electronics)
I bought 2 Polaroids with dvd players built in. Both dvd players failed with the same clicking noises as other users posted. Both were used to play dvds and lasted no more than 20 movies each. I easily could have thrown both of these in the trash but the screen still works for t.v.Don't waste your money on them, Polaroid should be ashamed to put this crap out to market. Nothing more than a scam. Total garbage for customer service, you can never get through...probably in India for support. Polaroid = FAILURE

Like many others reviewers have noted, this is a problem device. While it looks fine sitting on my desk and it works as a monitor and TV, the DVD player failed within a few months and my calls to support were so unhelpful that I simply gave up on trying to get it fixed. Polaroid labels this device, they do not manufacture it and their own support team can't answer anything but the most basic questions about the device. The DVD player failed and it's ability to play digital media files from USB sticks is entirely without support. I was never able to determine the parameters for encoding the files. Support told me they didn't know how it worked either. I'd suggest you'll live a happier life if you buy something less troublesome than this unit.

I bought this TV/DVD combo only 11 months ago! I relied on the quality name of Polaroid. I guess that is only for cameras. It is an extra TV in a bedroom so did not get alot of useage. It is broken already! It is JUNK AND DO NOT PURCHASE!!!!!! At the time I also bought one for my kitchen. I am just waiting for that one to die. Like waiting for the other shoe to fall. First the TV portion died so I was using the DVD since it was Thanksgiving weekend and was waiting until the busy weekend was over to contact the seller about "warranty". Now the DVD portion has broken and I had an almost impossible time getting the DVD out that I was using. DO NOT BUY!!!! DO NOT BUY!!! There are other quality sets out there for great prices (aside from the fact that it is "black weekend".)

Good TV for the money,

I bought two of these TV DVD combos for the extra bedrooms from Target for $250 each. Hooked up the cable and within five minutes (after the TV did the initial channel search setup)it was working perfectly.I read the other reviews and am not sure what their problem was - I have Comcast Cable in NJ - and it works fine. There is also a neat USB port where you can put in a memory stick and it will show a picture slide show - kind of a cool thing to do when you have guests coming over! I usually worry about the audio - no problems on this machine! Also, when you put it on full screen - it's not wacky distorted - none of the options for ratio viewing distort the picture. |
