5.0 out of 5 stars great for traveling
this tripod is lightweight and has quick-release legs and is good for backpacking,. It's small but tall enough for easy use and extremely light. The head slides on easily and there's a horizontal bubble-level. When folded the tripod fits in a nice thin bag that has a drawstring.

2.0 out of 5 stars You get what you paid for
Ok, after reading all these mixed reviews, I bought this hoping that it would be worth 10 bucks.
(at 10 bucks for a tripod, who would really say no?)

First of all, I am not a pro or a hobbyist who carries around a tripod to take stable pictures.

I bought this tripod because I do hate looking around & ask, "can you take a picture of us?"...

Ok, after reading all these mixed reviews, I bought this hoping that it would be worth 10 bucks.
(at 10 bucks for a tripod, who would really say no?)

First of all, I am not a pro or a hobbyist who carries around a tripod to take stable pictures.

I bought this tripod because I do hate looking around & ask, "can you take a picture of us?" whenever I go somewhere.

This is my 2nd tripod & I can tell huge different in quality from the one that I had (which broke....another inexpensive tripod which was much better quality, but not in much price difference)....I ordered this tripod because black frame looked sexier than silver/brushed metal colored one..lol

This tripod not only feel cheap, but it is cheaply constructed.
I wouldn't trust this tripod to hold any DSLR or large camera.
Even small point-and-shoot camera on windy days will be knocked over.

Still tempted to jump in for $10 tripod?
Save your $ and buy something better in quality because you'll go through 2-3 times of this $10 tripod (+ damage to your camera and lense if it gets knocked over).

2 stars because my expectation was already low when I ordered this and it gets its job done INSIDE of house.

Once you bring this outside of your door, be ready to do some diving like a baseball player you see on ESPN's SportsCenter top 10 plays to catch your camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BUY, October 11, 2010
This review is from: Polaroid 50" Photo / Video Travel Tripod Includes Deluxe Tripod Carrying Case For Digital Cameras & Camcorders (Electronics)
I was looking to buy a lightweight tripod to use for my extensive traveling and I finally found one. It is very lightweight and easy to carry around, sets up real quickly, and good quality. For the price I paid $14 it's a great buy! Customer service was very helpful as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Barely usable Chinese junk, October 9, 2010

The ad states: "Includes Deluxe Carrying Case For Digital Cameras & Camcorders". NOT TRUE! I'm sure it's just a language thing. It should read: "Includes Deluxe Tripod Carrying Case". The tripod is probably the worst piece of Chinese junk I have ever seen. Totally Plastic and not usable for panning. I thought the companies (Polaroid) oversee production and assure quality. Not this one. It is really too cheap to return. You get what you pay for.

We returned this and spent $5 more. We are much, much, much happier with this:

Vista Explorer 60" Lightweight Tripod with Tripod Bag

Comparing the two, this tripod lacks a handle, it feels less sturdy, less smooth panning, it is much shorter. it lacks decent locks on the adjustments, it lacks a weight hook. If you loosen the adjustments too much, they fall off. It is much flimsier, and shorter when extended, but yet it is no smaller when packed, and only 1 lb or so lighter. And so on and so forth ad-nauseum.

My opinion: Between the two at least, definitely don't wast your money on this one, spend another couple bucks and get a little better one, or don't bother getting one at all.

I paid very little for this on special. With free shipping or Amazon Prime (I forget) it was really inexpensive. Well made for a lightweight stand for a point and shoot or small video camera. I like the quality.

2.0 out of 5 stars It does the job, January 25, 2012

I purchase this to solve a hurry and it does the job, but it feels like a toy, extremely light loose legs, they dance, the mechanisms of the head are too tight. I'm afraid that at any time it breaks and falls off my camera, do not use it now. There are others equally in poor quality and cheaper. Now is a backup tripod stored in a closed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the greatest...., January 13, 2012
This review is from: Polaroid 50" Photo / Video Travel Tripod Includes Deluxe Tripod Carrying Case For Digital Cameras & Camcorders (Electronics)
Since I'm new to digital photography, I wanted something cheap to get my feet wet. It will be good for travelling light as its weight is minimal, and it folds up fairly compactly. However, this tripod is really not meant for rugged use. In fact, I almost have trouble convincing myself to place my $1000 dollar DSLR setup on this tripod. I will do it, but the camera will not be further than arm's length from me for fear of this tripod tipping over and sending my camera to the ground.

While waiting for this tripod to arrive in the mail, I visited my local camera shop where they have several Velbon, Manfrotto, and Gitzo tripods set up for demonstration. Those are beautiful tripods, and now having just received this tripod in the mail, I am quite disappointed that it is not even just a slight bit sturdier. Not to mention the pan head action on this Polaroid is NOT smoothe in the least.

Oh well, I was not expecting much for the rock bottom price that I paid, and this tripod did live up to those expectations! Nonetheless, I will use it for a while (with caution), and then upgrade to a more sturdy design in the future.

I got this from Amazon Oct,2010...only used it twice...the other nite I was doing time-lapse photography with my Samsung C-14 camcorder(from Amazon). Then when done, one of the bottom extension legs just fell out..cannot secure it with snap-lock. it just fell out and is useless...You get what you pay for.. I paid $15.00 for it and got one for my daughter(I am WARNING her so it does not cause her camcorder to hit the ground) Now it sells for $9.99, and it is worth 50 cents! Disappointed in Polaroid!

This tripod is light and easy to carry!!! Though, its quality comes at the price you pay for! It does not take up too much of my car's space since it is relatively small.
