Misled, July 6, 2007
This review is from: 7" Polaroid DPA-07046P Widescreen Portable DVD Player - Pink (Electronics)
It is too funny that I am sitting here on hold with Polaroid surfing the web trying to find out if this DVD player comes with a battery pack. Low and behold I come across this review which addresses my concern. I too bought this DVD player (2 actually) for a plane ride to Cancun leaving on Sunday. It's a shame that they list the battery time and in the manual it states that it comes with a rechargeable battery but you don't get one?!? How is that? This is complete misrepresentation. For the price you can get one with a battery pack and not have to pay an additional $40.00. Come on Polaroid you can do better than that.

fair to good, July 23, 2007
This review is from: 7" Polaroid DPA-07046P Widescreen Portable DVD Player - Pink (Electronics)
My parents bought a cheap "no name" dvd player with all the bells and whistles for my 7 year old daughter. It didn't even make it through an entire movie when it over heated and died - there was no built in fan. I returned the player and decided to try this pink Polaroid model. I was very happy to feel a cool breeze coming out of the unit so I knew overheating wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, after watching one movie, the read head malfunctioned and and would just make a horrible grinding noise. I exchanged the unit for another one hoping that it would work better. This one ran the movies fine (my daughter watched 2 movies in the car during a long trip), but the headphone jacks were staticy and didn't work well with any headphones we tried. I returned this unit as well and am giving up on Polaroid.
Pros:
1) the power cord length was ample to reach the outlet in our van
2) cooling fan!
3) Speakers aren't too bad, my daughter was able to hear her movie in the car when she decided she didn't wan't to wear the headphones.
4) Pink color was a hit with my daughter
cons:
1) The picture quality isn't great, but side to side visibility is good if you have more than 1 person trying to watch the screen.
2) The design for the car mount bag is bad. In order to change the DVD, you have to remove the headphones and power cable, then physically remove the entire unit from the bag (which isn't easy because it was a tight fit)
3) My daughter found the behind the head headphones uncomfortable.
4) As noted by others - NO BATTERY
If you are lucky enough to get a unit without any problems and don't need a battery, this could be a good one to consider.

hmmm. . .I actually did buy mine at Target, but. . ., November 18, 2007
This review is from: 7" Polaroid DPA-07046P Widescreen Portable DVD Player - Pink (Electronics)
it did indeed have the battery, and the cost was $30 less than listed here (and it's listed here as being a Target item).
My player looks identical to the one in the picture, and it is working fine thus far.
It is a hot pink color, and it comes with headphones, an adapter for regular plugs, a car adapter, a rechargeable battery, and audio/video cables. It did not come with a carrying case.
I am enjoying this player so far.
Good stuff:
1) headphones actually have decent sound and are comfortable around-the-neck style;
2) regular adapter does indeed have a decent length cord. My player is hooked up to my computer desk, which is near my bed, and the cord allows me to have the player halfway across my queen bed, which is perfect viewing distance for me;
3) the swivel screen is lovely, and you can even flip it so that it's flat and facing up (if that makes any sense to you; what I mean is that the player can be turned into a "play tablet," of sorts);
4) the battery is easy to attach to the player, and it can be stored apart, cutting down on the weight of the player (good thing, as carrying around some horribly heavy dvd player isn't on my list of fun things I gotta do); and
5) the picture quality is good.
Minuses:
1) Isn't supposed to play dvd +/- rw disks, according to the booklet that explains its capabilities; and
2) sure could use slightly less flimsy-feeling plastic in the body of the player (but then, it'd be heavier, so I guess it's not the worst trade-off you could make).
So far--two thumbs up!
