Polaroid FDM-1000A Under-Cabinet TV/DVD Combo with 10" LCD

Although this is a really sleek looking unit, it sounds awful. The speakers point downwards, the sound is tinny, and it doesn't get loud enough to compensate for regular kitchen noises. The screen is a nice size but is hard to see unless its angled just so. I am returning it and plan to try Sony's unit which is a little more expensive, but hopefully will look and sound better.

While this product may work for many, I returned it for 2 reasons:

1) the AM radio reception was very poor. I purchased the unit to combine both the TV with AM radio to listen to a new AM station we enjoy. The radio in the unit was unable to pull in the AM signal. While the signal is weak, other AM radios in the house can pull it in.

2) perhaps trival to some, but the remote control did not have a "previous channel" button. We enjoy and use that button frequently.

In addition to the above, I was surprised to see that the screen ratio was 9:6 so that the 10" diagonal measurement yielded a pretty small screen.

With her FDM-1000A. It mounted easily and works as advertised. We listen to the TV mostly and not music but I have not noticed anything "tinny" about the speakers. DVDs look very good

We purchased six of these for our office in January and within months, two died and the others are considered to be on life support. In our opinion this Polaroid product is an expensive flop and it doesn't deserve the one star rating I gave it. I would NOT recommend this junker!

I had read two negative reviews prior to purchasing this, but took a chance anyway and have been very happy with this unit. You will be too, assuming that you are not expecting "hi fi" sound from an under cabinet kitchen TV unit. The audio is certainly loud enough and the picture quality fine. We have been happy with this device.

We purchased this unit and had to wait to install it once our kitchen remodel was done, which took 2 months. I played four movies, 2 CD's and the radio and it died on me within two months. I called Polaroid to see if they would still honor their 90 day warranty because I hadn't really used it and the kitchen remodel delayed putting it in. NO. They did not even support their product. They wanted me to send it to them with an additional $125 to repair it. This is the last time I will buy a Polaroid product. I've also let my friends know. I'm happy for the ones that this worked out for, but there are more negative reviews of this product than positive ones - just search the internet. I'm moving on to Sony's products - at least they stand by their products.

We have had this unit for less then 9 months and alreay the LCD screen has burned out and the radio never worked on it. The price was reasonable, wich is why we bought it, but in the end...We should have gone with a more reputable brand.

We called Polaroid about the warrenty and they said they would try to fix it for $125 plus the cost of shipping and handling both ways. (Which would end up costing about the same as buying a new one.)

My wife wanted a TV/Radio/CD player in our kitchen. While it is not high-def quality...works very well for her. She is quite happy with the 10" screen and the remote we have does allow previous channel functionality. It is simple to install (more difficult to get cable to the cabinent than to install the unit).

We have had installed for about 3 weeks...no issues, works like a champ. Hopefully, it will be durable.

I bought one of these for my wife for Christmas. 9 months later the screen burned out. What a piece of junk. STAY AWAY!

I purchased this item in December 2005 and the LCD screen lasted a bit longer than indicated in other reviews, but in April 2007 it burned out. Not from overuse, mind you! After repeated calls to customer service which led nowhere I will be mailing it to Polaroid and asking them to dispose of their garbage. Why can't they just make a replacement screen if they know the screen to be faulty?!
