4.0 out of 5 stars Quicker than digital, more fun than i-Zone
The Joycam is a great compromise between the technology of digital cameras and the simplicity of the Polaroid i-Zone camera (the one with the mini sticker pictures). I have all three, but the most versatile and the most fun at parties is definitely the Joycam, with its instant gratification and ease of use.

3.0 out of 5 stars very pleased with the Joycam
I purchased this camera not too long ago and I must say I'm pretty pleased with it. The picture quality was much better than anyone told me to expect, it rivals if not beats its polaroid brothers and sisters in terms of quality. Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Polaroid JoyCam 500 Instant Camera Kit, Silver (Electronics)
The Joycam is a great compromise between the technology of digital cameras and the simplicity of the Polaroid i-Zone camera (the one with the mini sticker pictures). I have all three, but the most versatile and the most fun at parties is definitely the Joycam, with its instant gratification and ease of use.

The pictures are of a decent size, and there's a bit of nostalgia in pulling out the picture and waiting for the picture to develop.

The quality isn't as good as a digital camera, and it's not as portable as the i-Zone, but the Joycam is a great addition to your bag of tricks for any get together.

My daughter wanted the Polaroid I zone. After the reviews on Amazon about the I zone, I chose the Joycam. Great choice. Picture quality is excellent! Pictures compare favorably to my Polaroid Spectra. For indoor shot's, Watch out ,and make sure that when you want to take a picture, that you turn the flash on first ,or you will lose a shot. Fun camera ,great pictures ,great choice!! Thanks to all the Amazon customers that wrote reviews on the I zone , and saved me frustration!

I purchased this camera not too long ago and I must say I'm pretty pleased with it. The picture quality was much better than anyone told me to expect, it rivals if not beats its polaroid brothers and sisters in terms of quality. The pictures are fun to take at get-togethers and just hoarsing around, however the high cost of film caused me to rate this product at three stars. After the rebate, the film costs as much as the original camera! Overall it's stupidly simple to operate, drop in the film and go. It's as simple as that. The quality of the camera is a bit lacking, but who's complaining for the price it's at? Overall, it's a fun little toy to have at parties. I definitly recommend it to anyone looking for an instant camera.

This was my first Poloroid camera and I love it. It looks really cool and makes great picures, only sometimes the pictures are blurry and they are always rather small.

I got this camera as a secret Santa gift last year and I love it. It's great for get togethers. It truly is instant fun! The cost of the film is a bit insane but when you factor in the lack of development fees and immediate satisfaction I manage to rationalize it. I have no complaints about the quality of pictures. They're not the best quality in the world but I am spending about [price]a picture- and that ain't that bad. The only complaint I really have is that on more than one occasion I have accidently hit the button and gotten a picture of the sky or driveway setting me off in a fit but that's about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with the camera, December 17, 2000

This was my second polaroid camera and 6th camera overall. I got it for my 9 year old daughter. The pictures tend to blurry, half of the time they came out "over-exposed" i.e. too light, although we followed the instructions and kept atleast three feet distance. THis was true both indoors with flash and outdoors without flash. Also, as another reviwer has commented, if you do not pull out the photo quickly, a portion of the picture gets spoiled. Overall, given the high cost of the instant film, (Polaroid makes most of its money on the film) and the 50% probability that a decent photo will come out, this camera is destined for the junkyard in our house.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still a fun camera in the digital age., March 10, 2006
This review is from: Polaroid JoyCam 500 Instant Camera Kit, Silver (Electronics)
You can't buy one of these new anymore; Polaroid no longer makes them. But, if you can find one on a certain auction site, usually for less than the price of shipping it to you, you can have a lot of fun.

I bought mine about three months ago on a whim. I noticed the 500 film, which is still sold at the drugstores, and wondered what Polaroid camera 500 fits. Well, one thing led to another and I got my JoyCam for the astounding price of five bucks and another four of five bucks for shipping--which is less than the price of a pack of film.

But, this camera is seriously fun. It takes decent shots. It doesn't make all that annoying scary motory noise that usual Polaroids make, and it never misses a shot!

I brought mine to work just to lighten up the mood. It's worked! This camera has brought some serious joy to a joyless office. Hence the name I guess.

People love getting their picture taken doing stupid stuff at work. Today, I took a picture of three coworkers who had gathered around a bag of pork rinds just stuffing their faces. You had to be there, but trust me, it was hilarious.

Get one while you can and have some fun.
