Got another one...same thing happened.

I got this for my 5 year old, hoping the touch screen would be comprehensible to him (his old MP3 player wasn't cutting it).

He can understand it, but there are two critical problems that render it unusable for a child and difficult to use for anyone:

1) The touchscreen works, but not quickly and not reliably. Your best bet is to use a fingernail. But even then, sometimes it responds only after two touches, and sometimes it takes several seconds to register a response and take the desired action. For adults, it's a pain in the ass. For kids, it's unusable.

2) The default sort of files in folders appears to be REVERSE alphabetical, and there is no system setting to change it. So either your kid hears his music/stories backwards, or you spend a pile of time building custom playlists. Horrible.

I didn't expect an ipod for this price-- really. But there is a broad spectrum of usability from "effortless" to "broken," and this thing is too close to the bottom end to be worth any money at all.

Okay...I do like this player, and how affordable it is, don't get me wrong, but the touchscreen...it takes me at least five jabs with my pointer finger to even get the songs to go into shuffle. Then, sometimes the shuffle will make the songs go on after ten seconds, for no reason...I think Polaroid should stick to strictly cameras for now (no hate or anything, just a fact that the mp3 was...slightly bad, but I guess I got my money's worth out of it so...it's up to you, customer...)

...some names stick in my head when it comes to quality, as does the brand Polaroid when it comes to a company full of good quality photos worth the sharing in the family tree. I purchased this device, the 4GB Polaroid PMP 28O MP3, in the hopes that the sound quality might be be as a good as the visual prestige Polaroid is known for, yet, even after loading a couple dozen of my favorite albums from different genres...I was rather disappointed with sound quality this little device has to offer. Everything sounds as if it is coming through a tin-can. The bass level seems to be lacking, as there is no boost features give the music a full sound. I tried several pairs of headphones in comparison with my old Creative Zen Player, quickly coming to the realization that it is not my ear-speakers giving me the problem, it's the device.

As I paid a petty price for this MP3 gadget, I am not going to fuss too much after I take it back for a full refund. The visuals are great. The size of the unit is rather portable. Like others here, I have to agree, the touch screen is not too user friendly. You have to tap and tap the screen over again to get to what you want to see/hear. I might have pardoned all of that if the sound quality had more to offer. Aside from that, I found no easy way to navigate the menu to hear the music I wanted to listen to with a particular artist/album display. The EQ options are rated "G" as well.

For now, I am taking this device back to where it came and relying on my old Creative Zen MP3 player to satisfy my listening pleasures. Though the battery life is becoming shorter within age, the sound quality is the worth extra charging it takes to get me through a 10 hour day at work. Though I want to replace my Creative Zen with a newer model...all the reviews I read have me sleeping on my old model.

Well...looks can be deceiving ...it resembles an iPod but it really isn't up to par. It's hard to navigate between songs. You have to literally punch your finger down to change screens....and it's really hard to turn off and on. I guess it's worth the 20bucks we paid. ...so not impress

What an awful device! You have to tap an icon eight times to make it work; the touch screen is extremely unresponsive. None of my mp3s got transferred into the player; I've never had so much difficulty with the user interface of a device. No wonder Polaroid has gone out of business, they have no quality control. This item should have never been released into the market. Spend some more money and get a Sony; Polaroid is garbage.

Very fast shipping! Item came as described, great mp3 player,
but sometimes it's hard to press the buttons on the screen as
they made the touchscreen buttons pretty small. Great purchase either then that. LOVE!!

This unit is great to have and very easy to operate. No need for a book to learn about item. Just common knowledge and it plays very clear and easy touch screen. Would recommend to anyone.

I purchased this item from the electronics department of a local store. They had an entire end-cap stocked with this player on sale, and for the price I thought it would be good for listening to music while I worked in the yard. I've been attempting to get this thing to work for hours now. It will not take a charge and will not turn on. Waste of money.
