Garbage product! No Good! Avoid! Avoid!,
This review is from: Polaroid 7" Portable DVD Player Red (Electronics)
A complete rip-off! This player will only work for about ten to twenty
days before the screen goes all white or white with color lines and will never play another DVD again. It's utter junk and you'll end up needing a refund or a replacement player....but make sure you replace the Polaroid with a completely different brand. Or better yet....DON'T go anywhere near this player.

Well, lets just say that this product has a short life span. I purchased this for my girlfriend, because she wanted a pink dvd player. Purchased in the begining of August 2008 and then just gave up a few days ago. Strange thing was that it stopped working a few days after the warranty had expired. Buyers, beware of this product. Sometimes buying cheap will cost you more. I purchased a Sony Dvd player for myself about two years ago for $189.95 and have not had any problems with it.

This has to be the worst consumer scam ever. You can search online to see how many people have or have had the "no disc" error problem with many Polaroid dvd player units. They should be prevented from selling sub-standard products to the public until they clean up their act. This is my second and LAST Polaroid dvd player. I bought the same unit but in a swivel-head incarnation prior to this purchase. It too died an early death. I purchased this unit because Polaroid was a trusted name in my family for many years. That is not so today. For these many people to be having the same issue and for Polaroid to only put a 90-day warranty on the product speaks volumes. I for one am DONE. Caveat Emptor.

I don't care what these guys used (or sold!), these players are crap.
Not just one, but two of these Polaroid portable DVD players were purchased less than a year ago. Both quit spinning the DVD in the 13th month within a few days of each other. What do you do with a working LCD screen and no player? Nothing. It's crap. Don't buy Polaroid!!! Oh, and I call BS on the care and handling on the 5 star recommendation. Baloney! The last one to quit had just played a DVD. Popped out that one and put in another one and it just wouldn't play. Happened that quick. Disc won't spin. So, trying to explain away the player not working due to abuse is pure horse crap.

Many problems,

We bought this DVD player over a year ago after our other portable Polaroid broke (it fell off the bed and the little stub that plugs it in inside of it broke). I did like that it had the non-slide surface, and thought since WE had technically broken the other one we would buy that brand again. I was so very wrong in that choice. Here are our problems...
1. The fast forward button jumps about 3 minutes each time you push it, you can't really fast forward to the next frame. 2. The open and close button started not closing all of the way about 2 months after we got it, we have to secure it with a piece of tape. 3. The picture quality is not that great. 4. Some times you have to turn it off and on several times before you can get to the main menu, it seems to get stuck somewhere on the loading page. 5. Now the battery will not charge at all in the car and if you charge it in the house, it only holds for about 30 minutes. And it looks like it will be cheaper to buy a new one than replace the battery. Since this is the second Polaroid we have had a problem with, we will probably buy another brand.

Then it suddenly died. It won't recognize a disc. Retailer unwilling to take it back--this is the funny part, they said I should have purchased an extended warranty. I might have if any one of the three people, (2 salespeople and a cashier), involved in the sale had mentioned one.
Polaroid's warranty is only 90 days. Save your money...

Don't buy this DVD player,
This review is from: Polaroid 7" Portable DVD Player Red (Electronics)
I bought this DVD player because it was red and also because you can play homemade DVD's on it as well as store bought DVD's. Just as a previous reviewer stated....after about 20 or 30 uses the screen flickers and goes white all the time. My daughter is very frustrated while she is trying to watch movies. This was $160.00 so, I thought that was a high price and expected good quality. I am very disappointed and don't recommend this DVD player.

I picked this up at target one year ago. the swivel screen is unnecessary and only became unstable after a while.
The unit did not play back dvds well when it was new. a year later IF it loads at all it freezes. At one point it wouldn't load any at all. It of course started again when I went to return it. It unfortunately continued to marginally work until the warranty expired. If you touch the battery during operation it will cause your movie to reset. The DVD door needs something sittng on it to alow the machine to operate. Otherwise it rays "open" This item was very inexpensive $99 and it came with a $10 Target shopping card. The saying goes - You get what you pay for, In this case I didn't even get that.

This product worked for us,
This review is from: Polaroid 7" Portable DVD Player Red (Electronics)
We bought this product 2-3 years ago. We bought it because we travel back and forth from the UK and it plays disks from multiple regions. Our daughter has used this player all this time traveling back and forth overseas. I only saw these reviews because after 2-3 years it is finally wearing out and we need a new one. I am looking at Polaroid again because it plays DVDs from multiple regions and because we never had any problems.

Only thing that was good about the one I got was that it was the pretty red one.
Worked at least 1 day then had a constant false "open" message. I did return it to Target and got the Memorex one, which I thought right away the dvd tray lid button seemed flimsy, then put in my dvd and got the false "open" message on this one too. I had a Magnavox one that didn't have any problems until I cracked the screen case and of course like all portable dvd players the motor would start have whirring problems towards the end of its life and you would have to tilt it to get it going. My very first dvd player right out of the box had that whirring problem from the very beginning. |
