5.0 out of 5 stars Polaroid 600 made from the edge cuts of Polaroid 779, January 27, 2012

This review is from: Polaroid(R) 779 Professional Film, High Speed (Electronics)
Being that all Polaroid Type 600 film is discontinued, Polaroid 779 is the better buy for your Polaroid 600 camera. It seems as though because many Polaroid 600 users don't realize that Polaroid 779 film and Polaroid 600 film are exactly the same, the prices are lower and the availability may even be greater.

Apparently, Polaroid 600 became the consumer grade version while Polaroid 779 was branded for Professional use. Looking at the Technical datasheet of Polaroid 779 very closely, you will see that Polaroid 779 is actually the better performer of the Polaroid 600 film series. I imagine that quality control and chemical disbursement of the master film sheet is more reliable at the center than it is at the edges. Being that the edges can't be too bad, these were sold to the consumer in pretty red and blue packaging an available in mass.

Polaroid 779 had been a well kept secret, but I rather enjoy these fillet cuts at great prices and I am looking forward to buying more. I have found that 2008 and 2009 are the only dates worth purchasing as the older film is simply too unreliable for typical uses. I also avoid refrigerated and frozen film as consumer refrigerators introduce moisture into the packs and freezing cause the batteries inside of the film pack to expire prematurely.
