Amazon.com Product Description

For those times that call for a photo on the spot, the Polaroid Spectra 1200i Instant Camera will more than fit the bill. Whether you need an instant photo for fun, insurance claims, or other documentation purposes, this camera will become your friend for life. Just aim and shoot, and the Spectra 1200i will do the rest, giving you a full-color image in a matter of seconds.

An automatic 10-zone focus means that your shots will always be crisp and clear, and a built-in flash with a range of two to 15 feet is excellent for low-light conditions, but also compensates for shadows in bright-light conditions. The camera powers up in a mere six seconds, with a rapid recharge indicator telling you when you can snap the next shot.

The Spectra 1200i relies on a fully automatic, 125-millimeter, three-element lens with 10-zone Quintic that provides a focal distance from two feet to infinity. (An optional close-up accessory that's sold separately reduces the focal distance to 10 inches.) With an aperture of f10 to f45, and a shutter speed range of 1/245 to 2.8 seconds, the Spectra 1200i is versatile enough to meet a wide array of your photographic needs.

Polaroid has made its reputation over the years by providing photographers with fun, well-built cameras with user-friendly designs, and this camera certainly extends that reputation. Display features such as a frame indicator shows how many pictures are left in the film pack, an easy-to-read control panel, and a lighten/darken exposure control mean that you will always be prepared for your next shot. The camera also includes a tripod socket, adjustable hand strap, and a next strap connector. At 6.82 x 3.07 x 5.46 inches (W x H x D), the Spectra 1200i is compact enough to join you on your travels. Powered by the battery included with the film packs, the Spectra 1200i works with Polaroid Spectra, 1200, Image, and 990 films.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent all-purpose camera., December 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Polaroid Spectra 1200i Instant Camera (Electronics)
It kills me that Polaroid is doing so poorly these days. I've got several old Polaroid cameras, and they've stopped making film for them. I just bought this new one very recently, and it takes great pictures, end of story.

To say "the film is expenisive" is not a helpful critique of this, or any Polaroid camera. That's just the way it is. Think of the money you spend on 35mm film, and then seperate processing. That's why Polaroid film costs more money.

This Spectra takes sharp focused pics at all distances. It's a far cry from the old fixed focus, or manual focus Polaroid cameras. The minimum distance from the object is something like 2 feet, which means it can't focus too close, which is a shame, but Polaroid also makes the Spectra 1200FF which is a fixed wide-angle focus, so it has some macro features.

Good camera, very versitile. Forget digital cameras, support Polaroid and keep them alive.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun camera, December 16, 2001

I own this camera. It is a fun "grab and go" camera when you see something and need a take a quick picture. It's fun at family and friends get to gethers, but the film is a little expensive, but what the heck, have fun anyway. If you need to document something for your insurance company, or want to keep a photo record of your collection, it works very good. All in all, a good camera to keep with you at all times, "just in case."

I was excited to try out the new polaroid camera using the bigger film. What a waste, if you want a great polarid camera you are going to have to go to some special camera shop, if you want a decent one don't buy this just get the old stand by, one step (...), its just as good as this camera if not better.
