4.0 out of 5 stars Instant gratification with a few caveats
As advertised on TV and true to the original, the Polaroid I-Zone is instant fun and simple to use.

Even better, the plastic camera is fairly inexpensive (about $20) and really cool looking (think: VW Bug meets the iMac). Image quality and exposure are surprising good for a tiny plastic lens. In addition, the I-Zone comes with a built-in flash.

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk.
Picture quality is consistently extremely poor. Very small image. Film is over priced. Camera breaks extremely easily. Images do not scan well even on a high quality scanner. I think the product is mostly just a gimick and a fad which I hope disappears quickly. I recieved one for free as a prize in a contest at a web site. Tried it out, and I think it's completely...

The caveats:

1. The film is expensive (about $5/shot!) which really adds up after awhile. 2. The prints are really really small (postage stamp size). 3. No negatives, so forget about making re-prints. 4. It leaks (somewhat) caustic goo on you.

All told, think of it as a toy and give it a whirl. For $20, you can't lose.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, simply fun, November 23, 2000

No big promises here other than this will add enjoyment to trips, vacations, big dinners, etc -- it is portable candy. It is also a good to have around the house in the way that it is good to have a roll of electrical tape -- it comes in handy for doing odd jobs like a kid's class project that reqs pictures, etc. The film is about $8 for 12 exp -- a little less than a buck a print. Even if you factor in the cost of printing regular film this still has a premium, but it isn't too bad, you get the pictures instantly. All the negatives are only negatives if you use this like a traditional camera. The purpose here is fun.

Pluses: - Light, easy to bring anywhere; Instant film; Cheap; Good for kids (no worries)

Negs: - Prints are small (large postage stamp); No negatives (one print only), very 'of the moment'

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, Great Price, November 15, 2000
This review is from: Polaroid i-zone Translucent Pocket Instant Camera, Phat Blue (Electronics)
These things are addictive, and I already have a digital camera! I'd give it 5 stars but the film is a little expensive considering how small the pictures are (but note it is NOT $5/picture ... - more like $0.60/picture). Also, the adhesive is very light weight. I guess it's good if you want to remove it from things but I was expecting something stronger.

4.0 out of 5 stars Take it as a toy, November 15, 2000

Now it's not the type of camera you'd take on family vacations! It's perfect for children/teenagers who like to take pictures of friends etc. The film is pricy but $20 isn't bad for the camera. The "prints" are tiny. You have to get semi-personal with the person you're taking the picture of, meaning to get a good size headshot...you'd have to get pretty close. The flash is a bit overpowering, but if you just take it as a toy, then you won't be too disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Polaroid I Zone Camera, January 23, 2001

I love my I Zone camera, but what I don't like about it is that the film isn't very good. What I mean is, it's sharp and everything, but the sticky stuff on the back isn't very durable. Also, it's about 50 cents a shot. I'm 12 years old, so that's a bit expensive for me. Another thing is, I can only find sticky film. The closest place to my house I could find non sticky film was 5 miles away (and I can't even drive yet) But that's not something to judge the camera by.) I would recomend the camera to anyone who's under 15.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sort of Cheap Fun, January 30, 2001

I often buy this as a gift, especially for the 8-12 year old group. It's easy to use and the pictures aren't bad - they're about 1 X 1 1/2 inches and have the same fuzzy flattering quality of the regular size Polaroids. The film isn't cheap, though, and after the kids run through the measly 5 picture roll that's included, Mom and Dad or older kids with allowances get to shell out close to [price] for another 3-roll pack (12 pictures each). But it is fun and kids of all ages love it.

This is a whimsical little Polaroid instant camera that would make a great gift to bring to a (Christmas?) party. It's also great for the kids' annual school yearbook signing ceremony. At twenty bucks, it's cheap enough to not worry about its long term utility, and its major drawback, the price of film (about fifty cents a shot for a postage stamp pic), will be the recipient's problem, not yours.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great and amazing camera!, December 27, 2000

The camera is extremely accurate in its exposure. Pictures are admitedly small - yet very sharp. It is a neat piece of engineering. Kids really get a lot of fun out of using this camera. Adults will enjoy it as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars I-Zone, the next best thing to being there, November 23, 2000

The I-zone camera is GREAT! I got one for my Bar-Mitzvah last month, and I have not stopped to look back. Take a picture, pull it apart, and stick. That is all there is to it. At school, I pull it out at lunch, and now I find myself at the popular table. Thanks Polaroid, this is definately not my father's Land Camera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smile..., February 17, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Polaroid i-zone Translucent Pocket Instant Camera, Phat Blue (Electronics)
This small camera is ideal for young children to adults. It provides the user with instant pictures. Film for the camera can be purchased with a sticky or nonsticky backing and is easily intalled into the camera. The mediocre flash adds some functionality to the fun camera. The flashy colors and design add a blast of "ah-ha" to the cameras overall appearence. Althought the film is moderately expensive in relation to regular film, the addition of the "neat effect" balance the two. With a relatively low retail price, you will be investing in a camera and a great time!
