Nice Look - Works Well,

This is a cool scale, with a retro/antique look. I don't think it looks cheap. It is actually a lot larger than I thought it would be, though, so make sure you have room on your counter. Removable tray is nice because you can put wet messy items directly on the scale and then just rinse off. You can adjust the calibration manually to zero, if you want to use another type of dish on the scale. I'm happy with my purchase.

Overall I like the look and performance of the scale. The bowl is large and it easy to read all measured weights. The only complaint is the cheesy plastic-plexi-glass face and the stainless steel constuction is somewhat light weight. I would pay more for a heavier construction. The scale is made in China.

This attractive stainless steal scale is great. You can measure out your dry ingredients, which is often the most accurate way to bake. They slide out very easily. No batteries or power source needed. 11-lb capacity makes it a very useful tool in my home. I never thought I needed a scale, but since using it, the quality of my bread and other baking has improved.

Great scale for our market garden and for Ebay-ing,

My wife and I have a market garden and use this scale to weigh out equal portions of produce as we prepare for the farmers' market. It gets alot of hard use, and has always been dependable even with freshly washed vegetables. We just ordered another to help make our operation more efficient. We have also used the scale to weigh items we sell on Ebay and have always been able to give accurate Priority Mail quotes to the high bidders.

A GREAT SCALE FOR BUSINESS USE, TOO!,
This review is from: Polder 11-Pound Stainless-Steel Kitchen Scale (Kitchen)
Pelouze® you LOSE: The Polder® is a G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. 11-LB. SCALE with a big 'n beautiful face that for once you can actually read without a magnifying glass!! When I read others' comments about the metal being "light weight" I about gagged - what, you want to use it for armored transport? A suspension bridge perhaps? What are you weighing, a tuna? Getouttahere!! This contender is solid state and it enters the ring at about the weight of what a double pack of ground beef (+ one more slab) would be, if that's any help. `Heavy' is a term of art, but the one thing this scale is _not_ is light - or puny. It's adjustable, with a lovely removable stainless steel bowl for which its 4 positioning prongs actually help to "grip" parcels when you're not using the bowl. The prongs make it thoughtfully adaptable to using other bowls, too.I bought it for use in my business. That's right. I often have to weigh parcels exceeding 5 lbs., and I'm just sick of Pelouze® ripping off the business community with their midget, hard-to-read, overpriced scales with a weighing surface the size of a playing card. And how brilliant for Polder® to make it 11 lbs. instead of 10! Most delivery pricing has a cut-off at exactly 10 lbs., so this way you can tell when you're _over_ 10 lbs., and by how much. I bought mine on a Gold Box offer and my only regret is that I didn't buy two so I could have a second one for my kitchen. Weigh 2 go Amazon[.com]! Skye

I have no complaints at all about this scale. Its size is perfect-- just right to fit on the corner of my counter. It is easy to zero out and the bowl is large enough for most of my kitchen needs. I use it frequently for ebay shipping and it's very accurate.
One of the other reviewers mentioned that it's lightweight-- this is true and I can see why they would have an issue with it if they're going for that retro feel, it looks like it would be heavier than it is. However, I think making it actually heavier would be more of an inconvenience than anything else, since its current design is nicely portable. All in all, two thumbs up.

Pros:
1) no lag time as with digital scale. 2) bowl very useful - do not always need to pull out a plate to weigh something, and the bowl is easy to rinse and wipe off when done. Cons: 1) zero adjust is a little finicky - acceptable for the price range, but a better scale would be more repeatable. What I mean is that when you place the bowl on the scale and then adjust the knob to zero the scale, and then remove the bowl and put it back, sometimes the second (or subsequent times) the reading is a little off zero. If you tweak the zero knob, then it may subsequently be off in the other direction. Once you have it right, it seems to settle out and come back to zero. 2) the bowl could be made of heavier gage steel. It works fine as is, but I suspect that if I ever drop it on tile it will dent pretty easily.

The scale is great, easy to read, and sturdy. The base is large as noted in the description and does take up a lot of space on the counter. The bowl seems a bit small. We have a garden and harvest greens and other large veggies that are hard to balance in the bowl. I wish it had a flat top or larger bowl.

Great Scale. Accurate, easy to read, goes back to zero every time, durable, easy to clean, and transport. Already had one from years ago and needed another one for a second location. Am a professional bread baker. Digital ones are aggravating and take too long to clear. This is a wonderful tool for any cook. Baking away in Ga. Thank you Amazon for offering it. I have been searching for a long time to find another one exactly like my older one and bingo you had it. THANKS A MILLION! Pat from Ga.

I was very impressed with the look of the Polder scale. The fact that it is accurate and easy to clean and weigh food is just what I was hoping for. This will last me a life time, so far so good.
I am a professional chef and really needed my work scales at home. I wanted them to look better though! I found what I was looking for and at a very good price. |
