4.0 out of 5 stars Serves its Purpose
Maybe I got a different bread box than the other reviewers. I've had mine for at least 3 or 4 years now. It's used a lot and still looks brand new. Mine is very solid and doesn't appear flimsy at all. It seems to keep the bread fresh. The only problem is sometimes I forget that I have bread because it is hidden in the bread box. Overall, I love Polder products (have...

1.0 out of 5 stars Deluxe? Try "Cheap", October 7, 2004

I decided to return this about 45 seconds after opening it. The metal is thin and flimsy, and the construction very poor (e.g., little plastic end guards cheap looking and loose). Also, it was a bit lopsided, so it did not sit squarely on my counter.

Maybe it works fine. Who knows. The design and manufacture were so poor, I didn't keep it long enough to find out.

Very thin and unsteady. Couldn't open it without having to hold the back of it. It wobbled side to side as I was forcing it to open. I sent it back as soon as I got it.

2.0 out of 5 stars VERY POOR QUALITY!!!!!, November 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had read the reviews that were left for this item before I purchased it. I realize that everyone has their own opinions on everything. So, I decided to take my chances and purchase the item even though there were multiple comments about it being a poor quality item. It was packaged very well, however, the breadbox had two dents in the roll top portion and the paint has blob-like spots on the front of the item. It is off square and the lid opens (rolls back)at an angle. I wish I would have taken the words of others to account and saved myself some money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by the description, March 19, 2008

When searching for products like breadboxes online one tends to rely heavily on the manufacturer's product description. Some people also rely on reviews written by customers who want to share their opinions. My past experience with the latter is that people tend to share more negative than possitive so to this end I do not put too much stock in the opinions of others unless there is a large number of similar opinions available. Boy, should I have read the reviews on this before I bought it! I got sucked in with the words "deluxe", "Stainless steel", and "All Steel Construction". The description even touts the durability of the product by indirectly camparing it to a seemingly inferior "tin" box that your grandmother likely owned. Apart from the fact that the one I received was damaged, I can't see how it could have survived shipping without being damaged . . . the metal is THAT Thin. For around $40 I expected MUCH better quality. I didn't even bother contacting the seller about the damage, I wouldn't have kept it if it wasn't damaged. Save your money, DON'T buy this product!

3.0 out of 5 stars bread box, September 30, 2008

It arrived with a dent in the bottom. Don't know if delivery service or warehouse dropped it. When reported another was on it's way immediately. It arrived safe and sound without any complications.

4.0 out of 5 stars Polder 206204 Stainless Steel Breadbox, April 6, 2008
By
The bread box is very nicely made except that I would call the metal finish "CHROME" not stainless steel. I've never seen stainless steel with a finish that reflective. I didn't check with a magnet to see if it is steel with a chrome finish or really SS. Stainless steel would have looked better in our kitchen but the chrome looks OK.

1.0 out of 5 stars Heed the warnings, January 16, 2008
Bought this as a gift for my mom - was so embarrassed when she took it out of the box and it was severely dented (which caused the paint on the underside to chip). She decided to keep it as we were able to pop-out some of the dents and she was didn't think anyone would notice the chipped paint on the underside. It was strange because the box was not at all damaged, but the item was a mess. I had read similar reviews and ignored them. Very Disappointed.

I wanted a bread box that would fit under my window sill. It fit perfectly! The metal is a little thin, but it doesn't have to hold anything buy bread so it works wonderfully. Nice color, wipes clean very well. All in all a great little metal bread box and worth the money!
