5.0 out of 5 stars Great gadget for the active cook
Hang this around your neck and you won't forget that next basting or turning on the grill or stove. Good loud ring, easy to set, and no batteries needed. Had one for four years and it keeps on working.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work
Timer never worked right out of the package. Followed directions explicitly to no avail. Threw timer out as cost to return wasn't worth it. A bummer! A one star is overly generous.

4.0 out of 5 stars $5.50 for lanyard, May 2, 2007
This review is from: Polder 526-41 Sixty Minute Cooki's Timer, Yellow (Kitchen)
My oven does do timed cooking but it shuts off at the end of the cook time and sometimes I need a few minutes. I probably will wear this around my neck. Because this has a magnet, I keep this on the fridge and have had no problem using it every time I have needed it since receiving it. I recommend this product.

This timer is great. Light enough to wear around when you do your 15 minutes of cleaning and FLYing!
Keeps excellent time. Magnet is good to put on fridge, or on any metal cupboard.
I love it! best for the $$.

I purchased this for my mother who has melted more than one pan on her stove and has collection pot and pans with delaminated bottoms. She finds this timer very easy to set and very good at waking her when she wears it around her neck.

Mine just doesn't work; that is, it ticks around but doesn't ring at the end of the set time.

1.0 out of 5 stars quite noisy, February 9, 2008
This review is from: Polder 526-41 Sixty Minute Cooki's Timer, Yellow (Kitchen)
this timer is quite loud and noisy--very distracting for the task I needed it for. It also doesn't want to stop correctly. I have to continually turn the dial to zero and back to get it to final stop making a ticking noise. It also doesn't ding every time. Overall, a poor product in my opinion.

I bought this because of the neck cord: Useful for me, as I don't always have a pocket and I often try to multitask when baking. (5-7 minutes is an eternity if all you're sitting & waiting for the cookies to "turn golden around the edges. Do not overbake.")

loud, brief mechanical bell.
accurate timekeeping so far.
BONUS: Didn't realize when I ordered, there is a powerful magnet on the back. After baking, I just chuck it on the side of the fridge, beside the "bunny" pepper mill. Out of sight and out of mind, until I bake again. LOVE this feature.

nothing fancy. but it works!

The timer is a great idea. You can take it wherever you are going. The magnet on the back also stuck to my file cabinet in the office which was a great plus. However, after a great start, it broke three days after I received it. I was really disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy & can't beat the price, October 17, 2007

My mom, who does a lot of baking, saw this in an Oprah magazine. I was delighted to find it on Amazon for her & at an even better price than what the magazine showed. Free shipping from seller-Amazon no less! (I tread carefully when buying from non-Amazon merchants.) She uses it all the time, both with the magnet on the rangehood & also around her neck if she leaves the kitchen. Very handy when she has something in the oven & wants to go out in the yard or elsewhere beyond earshot of the regular oven timer. Can't go wrong w/ the price! And a great save for all her yummy baked goods.

*** UPDATE *** My mom was so bummed. This timer seemed to have "died" after a few short months. I tinkered with it a bit & put a little piece of cardboard in it to get the battery to sit tighter. That seemed to get it working again. Not sure for how long but still a good deal for the price.
