5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Strainer
This far exceeded my expectations. I put this strainer to work right away and found the quality very good. Sturdy, holds a lot and love those thick cushioned expandable arms (ultimate protection from scratches on your kitchen sink/counter area) Much, much better than other brands that use cushioned feet that eventually fall off. Highly recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lip Sucks
There is a lip along the top that catches all of the food. This thing is a total pain in the rear to clean. Food gets behind the metal lip and there is no way to get it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful kitchen addition!, March 11, 2008

This review is from: Polder 6631-75 Stainless-Steel Sink Strainer with Extending Rubber-Grip Arms (Kitchen)
We bought this Feb. 2008 for $16 as part of the buy 3, get 1 free promo. This stainless steel strainer expands to hang from a tradtional dual split kitchen sink (for lack of a better description).

Our intent was to replace our plastic collander with stainless steel (getting rid of all plastics in the house due to "toxins"- just playing it safe). The bonus is that because it hangs from your sink, we now have extra space to put glasses to dry w/o dripping water onto countertops!

It's functional, attractive (if you care), and makes a great addition to any kitchen. You can get one for roughly the same price at Kohl's (maybe less, if on sale), however if you buy it w/ the Amazon promo. then it's a way better deal online. See my ordering tip below:

Ordering tip: if you're going to buy a bunch of items, split them in separate orders and put all the lower priced items together so you can get (at least) one of the more expensive items for free. By doing so, I got one $18 item free, instead of two $3.99 items free. Of course, just make sure both shipments are more than $25 for free S&H. I just made sure I bought some other needed items that weren't part of the promo! These 4-for-3 deals are AWESOME, especially when combined w/ FREE S&H and no sales tax! Way to go Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Handy thing!, November 27, 2007

This strainer is super versatile. Don't know how I got by without it. Buying a few more to give to loved ones who can use them. Great for washing veggies, straining noodles, and even doubles as an extra drying rack when you run out of room. Fabulous, yet so simple.

At last -- a strainer that will not tip over in the sink when you fill it to the brim!

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't BUY IT... PLEASE, September 9, 2008
This review is from: Polder 6631-75 Stainless-Steel Sink Strainer with Extending Rubber-Grip Arms (Kitchen)
I hate this item. The dirts always HIDE behind the 2 cm stainless edge. Enlarge the picture of this item and you will see the stainless around the edge of strainer. If this product doesn't have stainless edge, I might recommend this item.

However, the stainless steel mesh is very very very difficult to clean and the dirts won't come off that easily. I have to use more water than usual item.

Yesterday I washed spinach leaves, and today I washed rices, both of small pieces are still on the strainer espeically behind the stainless egde.

I would recommend to use the normal plastic or silicon strainer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad..., May 26, 2010

I bought this colander because I wanted one that would suspend itself across my sink. It does that very nicely.

I've only got a couple of minor complaints:

The interior ends of the arms tend to hit each other whenever the arms are pushed back into the strainer. Maybe the arms weren't intended to be flush with the sides when the thing's not in use, I dunno, but it bothers me that they seem to overlap by half an inch. No big deal.

The fine mesh (which was another reason why I picked this model) is so fine that it's a little bit hard to clean. When stuff gets in lodged in one of the holes, you're not going to be able to get your finger in there to get it out. You might be able to get a toothpick in there. I'm thinking I'll have to get a wire brush or something to clean it more quickly. Still, I'd rather have to work harder to clean this mesh than watch my spaghetti noodles slide out of larger holes.

It's big. Actually, that was yet another selling point for me, but it's so big that it's kind of hard to maneuver it under the faucet for cleaning.

Finally, my only real complaint with this thing: The band around the top traps food inside it. The band loops around the mesh to give it a finished edge, and it's open on the bottom so you'd think gravity might keep stuff out, but somehow food always manages to find its way in there.

The strainer is plenty big (could probably fit four pounds of pasta in there), the small mesh is wonderful, and the fact that I can leave it suspended over the sink makes working in the kitchen much easier. All in all it's a great product, I just wish it was a little easier to keep clean.

Very nice and useful tool for the sink. I leave it out on the sink always. Strains hot foods like steamed vegetables and noodles.
Always available with plenty of room to rinse salad and fresh produce. and yeah have used it to dry small washed items like utensils, spoons and forks. It can sit on table supported by it own footed stand. I take it to my garden. Pick my veggies and herbs and take them straight to the sink to rinse. Now this is what I call a useful tool.

This contraption is fine, works ok, as intended, a bit awkward to store and use -- the "legs" don't slide very easily. I just wish it were larger. I got it to replace a plastic colander/strainer that was large enough to cover most of one side of my sink. The only problem with it was that the holes in the bottom did not readily release the water because there was too much solid surface between them. I knew a wire-mesh surface would work better, and it does, but this basket covers only half of my sink space. Why on earth doesn't someone make a strainer that covers the whole space? A head of Romaine lettuce barely fits in this basket. We need an over-sink strainer that would hold a head of Romaine, PLUS a couple of bell peppers, a big stalk of broccoli, and an entire bunch of celery.

This item is a bit flimsy for a Polder product but it does the job.
