Doesn't fit!!,
This review is from: Polder 90636-90H Iron Rest (Kitchen)
I guess it would work for some irons, but I have one of the Rowenta irons, and while I can lay the iron flat on the holder, when I do that the steam continues to come out. The Rowenta iron has rounded edges where I guess it's supposed to fit in the slot on the holder to make it stand partially upright, therefore stopping the steam until you start ironing again. So, it definitely DOES NOT WORK FOR ROWENTA IRONS.

I have peace of mind now that I place my hot iron on the iron rest after I finish ironing. It is also out of my way while I'm arranging garments onto the ironing board. It keeps me from accidently bumping the hot iron. I would buy it again.

Polder 90636-90H Iron Rest,

I purchased this iron rest to hold my new steam generated iron and free up space on my ironing board. I could have bought a new board with the iron rest built on, but love the size and sturdiness of my old board. The iron rest attached easily and is very stable and strong, so I have no fear of it falling off.

Bad screws,

As has been mentioned, as purchased this doesn't fit most Rowentas. You can, however, bend down the inner "wings" on the holder to accomodate the Rowenta. My major problem is the plastic screws that secure it to the ironing board. Mine have stripped, and no longer can be tightened enough to keep the holder on securely. I've been unable to find replacement screws, either metal or plastic, to fit the threads. I can't locate the manufacturer on the internet. So, my only choice is to buy a whole new one, which seems dumb for such a small defective part.
Also, the clamps are apparently designed to fit a regular metal ironing board. I have a large wood ironing surface, and the clamps don't grip too well on its edge. I will try to modify this if I get another holder. On the plus side, it's really nice to get the iron off my board, so I can more easily press larger pieces of fabric or quilt tops. Some minor manufacturer's modification would definitely improve the product.

i am enjoying the idea of placing my iron on this metal iron rest. no chance of it being knocked over or falling off the ironing board on accident. a good buy

I like having the full use of my ironing board - does not work well with all irons since some do not stand up enough to stop the steaming action - small inconvenience.

Okay, but not a perfect solution for me,

I am a quilter, so my ironing board in the study is always out with the iron is on it. I also use my ironing board for doing layout as it allows me to do so without bending down (important because of back problems). Since I am around my ironing board a lot I have knocked down the iron to the floor quite a few times. Not good for the iron (had to replace at least one iron) and not good for the floor (have a gouge in the wood floor).
I have tried this Iron rest, which improved things but did not provide a totally satisfactory solution. I liked: 1) Having more ironing surface, since it clips to the ironing board 2) Reasonably priced What I did not like 1) It stucks out from the ironing board. In my sewing room set up this did not work well, it was either in the way when approching the board, or hanging over the sewing table, also in the way. 2) Because it was in the way, I managed to almost knock it down, so it did not solve my original problem 3) When iron was full of water, it dripped on my wood floor Eventually I found a solution that does work perfectly for me - a silicone iron rest. Whitney Designs 3131 Silicone Iron Rest Pad The Silicone Iron Rest pad is heat resistant and non-slip. It is very stable. As an added bonus the pad is water proof, so if the water leaks out it stays on the pad.

The Polder Iron Rest is the perfect solution for a 'big board' ironing surface that doesn't have a built in rest. Bonus feature - the design allows it to be clamped anywhere on the board....right/left/front/back... doesn't matter!

Bought my sweetie an extra wide ironing board, like mine, for Xmas. His has the iron rest that came with it. I liked it so I ordered this one for my ironing board in the quilt shop. Works great. I know...an ironing board for a man as a gift sounds weird. What can I say....he loves it and I was reclaiming mine for the shop.

After having my steam iron lie flat on the holder and, consequently lose all its water, I fiddled with the tabs in the opening to see if I could make the iron rest on a sharper angle. Voila! By bending the tabs--very carefully so as not to break them--I was able to deepen the resting angle for my iron. The only problem now is where to attach it. My husband irons left-handed and I iron right-handed. I'd like to put it at the end, but he wants it mounted on the side. It's on the side (I don't want to discourage him from helping out in the laundry room)!
