Does the job well,

This scale does its job well. The display is easy to read, units are easy to switch, and it seems very accurate. If the Lithium batteries happen to run out, it comes with an insert so that either Lithium button cells or a 9V battery can be used. Definitely a good scale at a good price from a respectable company.

Looks good; doesn't work.,

I had the same experience as the writer of the previous review. The scale seems to be fine but all its measurements are terrible. For example, it thinks a five pound bag of sugar weighs 2 pounds, 10 ounces. I'll look into returning it but I expect I will just throw it away.

It took me a while to realize that this scale was not working. I set it up as the manual suggested and used it accordingly and was always amazed at how light everything was. I began to distrust it so finally measured something that I knew the weight of for sure and found that it was measuring at less than half the actual weight. At this point, it is too late to return it. I am online now shopping for a replacement.

Initially this scale worked well. After maybe 6-12 months at the most, it started having accuracy problems (see fix below).Light items are still weighed accurately. But heavier items give different readings depending where you put them on the scale. From other people's reviews this is apparently a common problem. * On mine, the weight is accurate if the object is placed in the upper top area of the plate. Weight in the lower area of the plate doesn't get sensed correctly, so the more weight is being carried by the lower area, the lower the reading gets. I found that the highest reading I could get the scale to read was correct. Battery life is okay, but not great. I would roughly say they seem to last about 6 months or so. I wish it used simpler and larger capacity batteries. It uses a pair of lithium coin cells in a fiddly holder. I think the reason they did it this way was to get away with running 5v rated chips without any additional circuitry. 2x AA's, AAA's, or a 9V wouldn't give them the voltage they wanted, so the coin cells probably made the unit cheaper to build. (*) edit: This is an old item but I think there might be other people with the problem of inconsistent readings on this scale. The problem I had was readings that are higher for items placed at the top, and lower for items placed at the bottom of the plate. If you have this problem and don't mind taking a chance trying to repair it, try this: It's easy, but you'll need a T-15 security torx bit to attempt it. Take apart the scale (unscrew the plate from underneath, which may require pliers, then pull out the rubber standoffs and remove those screws). Inside, see the metal arm assembly which acts as the sensor. On the front end of that arm is a recessed screw. I assume this has something to do with limiting the arm's movement to prevent damage. However, on my scale it also apparently interfered with the readings. I backed out this screw by a couple turns, put the plate back on, and now it reads much more consistently across the plate. It's not perfect but close enough, I didn't adjust it any further. Readings are still correct as verified with another scale. Unfortunately this is a security screw, I used a T-15 security bit to loosen it (this bit has a hole in the center). A regular T-15 didn't fit.

My scale gave different readings, depending on where you placed items on the plate.
Everything I baked came out way too dry, since this scale habitually gave low readings. I ended up throwing this one away and buying one from another manufacturer. If it had actually worked correctly it would have gotten 5 stars. It was otherwise well-constructed and attractive.

This scale works and works perfectly, every time. We keep it in its box, off the counter to protect it against accidents and exposure to cooking detritus. Had it for several years. Does a great job of weighing wet or dry ingredients, mail for postage calculations, etc. Just can't handle weighing the grandchildren.

I really liked this scale. It was used once a week in my kitchen. After about 6 months it just would not turn on. Got new batteries and still nothing.
