Drying laundry the old-fashioned way with this standing accordion rack from Polder is better for many kinds of clothing for the same job. Designed with a clever yet simple accordion construction, the rack drops quickly and securely into position and holds its place on nonslip feet. Its horizontal bars are perfect for draping delicates, swimsuits, and snow gear, while its top level is nice for laying out sweaters. All together, the rack includes 11 rods at 26-1/2 inches each for a total of 24-1/4 feet of drying line. For storage, the piece collapses flat to a 3-inch thickness, small enough to slip in the back of a closet or beside the washing machine. Coming in at 29 by 15 by 42 inches when set up, this version of the rack is all chrome. A version in white is also available.

Almost didn't purchase this, but decided to try it after reading the reviews. Much better than the wooden ones...sturdy and does not leave yellow marks from the wood discoloring on the clothing. There is enough space between the bars to hang larger items and enough bars to hang a load of clothing. We liked it enough to order another one.

You can spend $50 on a sturdy wooden drying rack from a natural products company, but if you leave it untreated, it will eventually mold and warp from the moisture of wet clothes. Or you can spend $20 on this very sturdy chrome rack and not even worry about leaving it outside in the rain or snow. Even better -- get two of these. One isn't really quite enough to dry a whole load of laundry, and even with two, you've still spent less than you would've on the big wooden rack.

WARNING: Be prepared to receive damaged goods. The drying rack deserves 5 stars, the method of shippment deserves -1.
It really is a nice product, for something so simple it appears well thought out. Nice design touches, like the many plastic caps which cover any holes. The retail package is clear shrink wrap, which is fine if I was going to pick this up in a store. I was shocked to discover that the shipping method was basically a large plastic bag. Not good protection from all of the boxes and general handling practice of UPS. Needless to say it arrived bent. Amazon, I thought you knew better.
