4.0 out of 5 stars Looks Great & Solves Problems, October 26, 2007

My wife and I moved into a new apartment with a small and awkward bathroom.

We thought this might be a solution to a lack of towel racks. (we didn't want to add towel racks to the walls, and the two hooks on the back of the bathroom door just weren't getting the towels dried.)

I bought the Polder Duo in Chrome and put it up by myself. After some time now, it looks great in our bathroom and it is REALLY handy for towels. It is very nice to pull back the curtain and have the towel sitting right there for you.

Warning though: I did the normal installation, (it also comes with an option to screw it in.) And while I installed it alone, it is definitely a job that would be easier with two people. In fact, the directions require two people.

Be careful when pulling out the extension at first. I have read reviews on Amazon and other sites where people pulled the extension out too far initially. I can see this easily happening and though the instructions tell you how to reassemble the rod to get it back to the original length, it seems like it would be a real pain.

Just one design note. The shower curtain rings seem to catch on the overlap at the joint sometimes. (At least more noticeably than on regular rods.) I replaced our old plastic rings with chrome roller ball rings and those seemed to work much better. (They also look sharper.)

So far though, it is an elegant solution to a lack of towel racks. The Chrome looks great with our clear shower curtain.

1.0 out of 5 stars Am I smarter than a shower rod?????? Nooooooo!!!, July 28, 2007
Oh boy! If I could give it zero stars I would. I just bought it and was so excited to put up this beautiful handy rod. Ok, here it goes. To adjust, just pull appart to lengthen and twist to lock in place. YEAH RIGHT. First of all, there was no "twist" at all to begin with. My husband (220lbs) and myself (145lbs) were only able to "lengthen" after I went flying to the floor from pulling so darn hard. And then it was too long! Now, to test for correct length try putting it in place. Ha! Once again it takes two people. Now to re-adjust it, just use sledge hammer and block of wood. I just can't explain the frustration of being beat by such a simple thing. It's going to be returned because I (the wife) give up. Oh boy. Good luck!)

5.0 out of 5 stars perfect idea, June 9, 2007

I truly love this product. Very sturdy and easy to install although you need two people. The only downside is that you will not be able to see the shower hooks so don't buy any cute ones, a simple one will do.
