This review is from: Police Officer Exam (Paperback)
This book helped out a lot. It was exactly the same format at the actual test.

Don't Even Bother!!!,
By James C Stuer Jr (Ft. Worth, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Police Officer Exam (Paperback)
I have been struggling for a while to get through the written exams and oral interviews within different police agaencies here in Texas. So, one day (just recently) I decided to purchase 3 books to help me to prepare for up coming exams. When it comes to this book... Don't even bother. It is not even worth the paper it is printed on. Unless yopu need paper for the out house or for the bird cage... Then, I might suggest this book. But I do strong suggest Barron's: Police Officer Exam by Donald J. Schroeder & Frank A. Lombardo or Norman Hall's Police Exam Preparation Book. I cannot say enough about these two resources. But! As for this wasted purchase... I tell you what... Take the love of your life out instead. You'll be better off.

Many Errors,
This review is from: Police Officer Exam (Paperback)
Bought this book to study for the Police Officer Exam. It does have a lot of useful information, but is also full of mistakes. The worst being an entire page of one of the exams is missing.
Most of the mistakes appear to have occured when the book was upgraded to the new edition. They have changed material in the questions but not the answers or vice versa. An example is in Practice Exam 4, you have to add words into blank spaces in a paragraph, ensuring the word has the same number of letters as the number of spaces. In one sentence the correct answer is given as 'lawbreakers' but the blank space has 9 letters and 'lawbreakers' has 11 letters. ('Criminals' fits the spaces and the context but is marked as incorrect.) There are many more errors. Find a more accurate study guide.

Recently I began reading a number of civil service / L.E. exam books. This one seems to be the most helpful of all. The test taking tips were great, as well as the break down of information. I've learned from experience, however, that none of these books will prepare you enough for the math portion of most exams.

This book will help you pass the written exam!,

I bought this book because I didn't have any idea what was on the police written exam. The application for police officer in my state just mentions "Reading Comprehension and Writing Skills". This book helped me understand what would be on the test and I passed it on my first attempt.I found out recently that over 400 applicants took the written exam and only about 120 passed it. I am now on phase five of a twelve phase process for "Metropolitan Police Recruit" and I give thanks to this book. If your state tests you on Reading Comprehension, Writing, Spelling, Vocabulary and Puncuation this book might help you.

I'm 13 and have been wanning to be a Police Officer for awile... well I think, so I went to the library and got this book out. Unfornaclty I couldn't write in it, it is easy to follow and is a step by step, also, easy to follow. I'v lenerd some stuff that the Police Woman shows don't really explaine, this goes deeper into what I'll need to learn. So all in all it was a gr8t purches I'd recemand it to anyone who wants to be a Poilce Officer.

The questions and the test format do match most agencies tests, but a majority of the questions are set up so you either know them or you don't. I studied this but I don't feel like it helped.

A Terrible Study Guide,
This review is from: Police Officer Exam (Paperback)
I recently purchased the Police Officer Exam study guide as a way for me to practice my exam skills before doing the actual tests. While the information in the beginning is helpful the tests are very incorrect. For example, question number 93 in the very first exam asks how do you spell the word "magnificent". I selected "b" as this is the correct spelling. Much to my dismay I found out when I checked my answer that I was wrong, the word is actually spelled "maggnifisent". I just finished the second exam and so far I have found over 20 errors in the questions and in the answers so I will not be using this book anymore. DO NOT PURCHASE! Use Barron's Police Officer Exam study guide instead. A much better way to prep for officer examinations!Barron's Police Officer Exam (Barron's Police Officer Examination)
