As much as I'd hate to knock any Bible, this one was not all I expected it to be. It's not any type of devotional bible with commentary and discussion. It is a regular Bible with a leather cover with a little police shield on it. It has some interesting articles in the back, however. If you want a small handy bible to place in your duty bag, then by all means buy this one. But if your looking for a daily bible with note geared for police officers as I was pass this one up.

I bought this for a police officer friend for his birthday. I think he will really like it because its black compact leather cover with gold-embossed police shield resembles an officer's notebook and would not draw unwanted attention in the squad car, duty bag, or locker room, yet when used at church subtly and proudly display's one's distinctive professional pride as a law enforcement officer. Additionally, the translation is the HCSB, which is a fresh modern translation that balances a readable thought-for-thought paraphrase with word-for-word accuracy in conveying the meaning of original languages. This helps to make it more engaging and understandable to someone who might find older traditional versions (King James, RSV, NIV, etc.) a little stiff and harder to understand. This was of particular importance to me because my friend mentioned that he goes to a Bible study but feels he doesn't get much out of it because he finds his Bible translation so dry.

This Bible has a section in the back with about a dozen one-page essays and meditations written by and for police officers about their unique vocational experience. There are also a dedication page, two color maps of Bible lands, and several pages of explanatory notes and "where to turn for..." lists. I would have liked if there had been a few more study aids (concordance, maps, etc.), as once one has read the essays there is not much other helpful material. However the primary goal is to help induce people to read the Bible itself, and if having a "profession" themed Bible will stimulate interest in a readable translation, one can then go on to find study aids, maps, etc. in other sources.

This was the perfect gift. The retiring officers gave this bible so many praises. I will continue to purchase this item for my fellow officers. Inspirational.

This is a small bible but very nicely packaged and great gift for those in law enforcement.

This is a very nice bible that any officer of faith would enjoy. I gave one to my wife who is a Police Chief and she treasures it. The quality exceeds the price. We also purchased another after seeing this one for a gift to another friend.

I found this version of the Bible to be a must for all Law Enforcement personnel. I bought two more and gave them to our Chaplains to pass along.

This bible is excellent- the small size is a perfect fit for the map/book pocket found on the most popular police duty bags, and it's very nice to have a copy of scripture handy at all times. The translation is very easy to read and accurate, and the special prayers and stories section is very encouraging (although it could be a little bit longer). Also, the HCSB translation bolds old testament references, which is especially handy when studying the Gospels to see how Jesus fufilled prophecies during His ministry on Earth. Also, this bible is excellent for sharing your faith at work, as it evokes conversation on sight. A great buy for the Christian who protects and serves.

I purchased this for my husband, who is just about to graduate from the police academy. I originally bought this as a graduation gift, but was so excited that I gave it to him early. It's such a nice gift idea. It's a pretty Bible. It's just the right size to keep in his police bag. He loves this. It's a perfect gift for someone in the police force.

This is a great Bible, if you just want to grab it and start reading, then this is the one. It has what the verses are about above in a title, so it is easy to read.

This book is awesome for all police officers who enjoy carrying a bible with them at work. It is compact enough to have on us at all times.
