Review

One of the first things necessary to take back this nation is becoming informed. Police State USA is the book that will get you there and inspire you to defend this nation from big government zealots who believe you won’t notice what they’re up to.

(Tammy Bruce, radio talk-show host, author, and Fox News contributor)

There's a quote from Police State U.S.A. that really hit home for me. It's by Daniel Webster:

"Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, bu they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -- Daniel Webster

Police State U.S.A. is one of the most down-to-earth books I've read that spells out - for the Average Joe -- what is happening (albeit slowly) in this country. The author covers a wide range of topics, and in general I feel as though you can almost read any chapter and learn something without feeling out of place. There are so many instances of freedom and liberty being eroded that if you just flip to a page...you'll find one!

Leave it out on the table for your kids to pick up (they read when they think you're not looking). Leave it in the bathroom. Give it to your husband or wife that is just sorta-kinda interested in what's going on around them because this is the kind of book that might actually jar them out of their stupor.

Police State U.S.A. is a quick read, but an important read. It's well worth shelling out a few bucks for what you would have otherwise just spent on a visit to a frozen yogurt shop with your wife. Skip the yogurt for a single weekend and read about what's happening (or rather, what has happened) to our country.

State Control.

Total power over the individuals life.

Chumley doesn't need to get hysterical in this book, which happens to be the most concise reading of subtle measures by the federal and state government to encroach on the Bill of Rights and "freedom" in this country.

This is a sober, frightening overview of not only America's future, but the present nightmare we all live in.

This book isn't a right-wing polemic.. it's for left, right, blue, red, Republican, Democrat, libertarian alike.

This is your country people, you need to see the freedoms that are being eroded as I write this brief summary. So far, the book is an excellent read (I have not finished yet).

The author richly documents her research about the rise of an endemic police state present in America today. After reading it, there is no doubt that she knows her subject. Every American who cares about this nation should read Police State.

Great book on where we are in America today. The problems of oppressing liberties is local and national as well as spreading the trend across all sectors of our life. We are in desperate need of a turning point. The book American Séance and the Liberty Amendments show how to turn the ship around with where we are at in history.

This book is indeed chock full of real life examples of things happening to people that are hard to believe could happen in this country. So, if you like the idea of having all of these accounts in one place, this is a great book. If you are already aware of what is going on, and you already keep up with these things, you might not want to spend $20 just to have it all in one book on your table. I was a bit disappointed that, although the back of the book says "In Police State USA, award-winning journalist and writer Cheryl K. Chumley covers a well-documented subject that is on the hearts and minds of the majority of Americans and provides a solution for stopping the madness," and, there is also this endorsement from Congressman Steve King, "Police State USA documents the severe damage done to chisel away at the pillars of American exceptionalism and helps us know how to restore our American dream," I was unable to find in the book where Cheryl Chumley "provides a solution for stopping the madness" or "helps us know how to restore our American dream," other than possibly the idea that "we need to compel our leaders to act responsibly and honestly and to serve with honor and regard for law" (last page of the book). But just how does one do that?
