Liked The Official Book of the Polish Lowland Sheepdog much better. This book was rather generic

For starters, Betty Augustowski (the author), is a lovely and charming lady. Moreover, she is an expert on the Polish Lowland Sheepdog ("PON"). Those credentials alone should induce you to purchase this "everything-you-always-wanted-to-know" owner's manual on the breed. I first became aware of the author in a chatroom for Polish Lowland Sheepdog breeders, enthusiasts, and alas, "backyard wannabee breeder-entrepreneurs." This was shortly after the PON became a recognized breed, I believe. With a PON champion at Westminster (if I'm not mistaken), the breed had suddenly become very popular. Anyhoo, this chat fellow had himself one of them thar PONs, and by gollly he was gonna cash in on this veritable bonanza! After reading the banter back and forth between bona-fide breeders (the author included), the "wannabee" chimed in with this [paraphrased] comment: "Hot diggity doggies! I think I'm gonna try to breed my female, sell me some pups, and make some BIG bucks! Uhhhh..., how do I do that?" Ever the sarcastic [you-know-what], I weighed in with this: "Hmmpff ... too bad MEN can't give birth!" This was my maiden foray into a chatroom, mind you. I was immediately reprimanded severely by someone (of my own gender!) who tartly responded: "Karen, that comment has absolutely no place in this chatroom!" Duly mortified, I was summarily excommunicated (as it were) from the chatroom; but not before the author (Dear Betty) came to my defense, and I'll never forget her kind words: "I don't know. I thought it was pretty funny!" Enough said. This essential tome is flawless, and the photos by Mary Bloom ... priceless!
