4.0 out of 5 stars Good Information
The book covers multiple contributions of the no child left behind legislation but the lack of effectiveness can be more clearly defined. The book gives some background on the each political parties motivation to contribute to the laws about the future of education in our country and how racism and classism still trump the moral obligations of our leadership.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Insightful Overview of America's Political Stakeholders
Political Agendas for Education gave an informative, albeit biased view of the current political stakeholders in education. Spring began his book with a 40 year old George W. Bush drunk at a party, and swearing off drinking from then on. What did this have to do with education? If I wrote a book about education and began with the Monica Lewinsky debacle, would I be seen...

This book does a great job of looking at all sides of the political spectrum on education. It is very thought provoking and an interesting read.

Political Agendas for Education gave an informative, albeit biased view of the current political stakeholders in education. Spring began his book with a 40 year old George W. Bush drunk at a party, and swearing off drinking from then on. What did this have to do with education? If I wrote a book about education and began with the Monica Lewinsky debacle, would I be seen as an unbiased writer? I don't think that that would be the case.
While Spring gives legitimate views of the political parties (i.e. Conservative, Neo-conservative, New Democrats, etc.), it is clear from his comments that he does not agree with the conservative views.
As an educated reader my goal is to critically analyze all views in a given topic without any bias whatsoever. I wish that Spring could do just that:(

1.0 out of 5 stars Only for those who love politics, April 12, 2009
I had to read this book for a graduate class and did not enjoy it at all! I would only buy this if you are REALLY into politics!
