5.0 out of 5 stars No religious test oaths: The weakness in the US Constitution, March 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Political Polytheism: The Myth of Pluralism (Hardcover)
Requiring a Trinitarian Oath as a test for public office. This seems blasphemous to modern man. Even the modern christian. However, such oaths were part of western tradition for centuries and the US Constitution broke this tradition. In Political Polytheism, Dr. North presents a strong case from scripture and history that religion and politics are inseparable. After reading this controversial book, I was angry that my previous view of our nations foundations had been shattered. Yet at the same time, I knew that what I was reading was the truth. And for that I am thankful. This book will change the way you think about politics.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Myth of Neutrality, September 17, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Political Polytheism: The Myth of Pluralism (Hardcover)
In this day of students being taught(journalists in particular) that there is such a thing as neutrality in reporting, or religion, Dr.North puts forth the absolutely convincing thesis that it is utterly impossible to select words or defend a position without actively abandoning neutrality and allowing prejudicial thinking to creep in.. This may be more important in the long run as Dr North's massive economic commentaries on the Bible and you only fool yourself when you pretend to be neutral. Being aware of the problem is the first step to correcting it. A very important philosophical book even for those put off by Dr. North's abrasive, but always entertaining and honest style.
