2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This is a very insightful book at times and a unique perspective. However, I found the book very frustrating. It is like a tv show that keeps you going with suspenseful moments, but at the end leaves one empty.
This is a very difficult book to read. It contains some of the worst psychobabble I have ever read- I have a MA in Counseling Psychology, and a lot of his...

5.0 out of 5 stars Macrosocial Evil, June 24, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
No one in my experience has quite explained the nature of true Evil in the way Lobaczewski has. The information in this book is what I would call "high density" since the maximum amount of information is conveyed with a minimum amoumt of words. It's not an easy read because of this but the information contained in this book precisely conveys the essential roots of the problem that humanity faces today.

Lobaczewski speaks of Evil in macrosocial terms, relating it to the word of politics and not from its ambiguous theological perspective. He bases his study of Evil in psycho-dynamical terms focusing on the behavioral dynamics of the psychopath and what motivates them. Lobaczewski studies the nature of Evil clinically, as it should be studied.

When I see the horrid state of the world in the terms Lobaczewski describes then everything fell in place for me. Now I know I'm not crazy. My reading of the book Ponerology explained A LOT to me, and not only confirms my own observations as to why the world is the way it is, but it has helped focus my perceptions and understanding of the nature of reality into a much greater clarity. It's no small wonder why the manuscript of this book has been suppressed. Once reading it one will begin to see the naked emperor.

These psychopaths that have now taken over our governments feed on our fear while feeding us false solutions to our domestic and foreign problems. They give us our governments which at this stage of their "game" are nothing more then Fascist regimes and nothing more then criminal governments in disguise.

In this book I have learned that most, if not all of the governments of the world, have been taken over by a pathological infection from just a small group of psychopaths who understand the psychology of normal people to a very high degree and they have corrupted these governmental structures to the very core. These psychopaths have silently, but with mind boggling persistence and stealth moved in and taken over and hollowed out the very soul of humanity using lies and deception as their weapons of choice. These psychopaths, this inhuman race of pathological deviants, who do not have the capacity to feel conscience and feel the pain of another, now literally rule the world.

One psychopath can terrorize an entire town, even an entire city. The majority of normal people are now ruled by a minority of psychopaths and they have basically made our governments criminal networks. Criminal governments. Those working for these governments are now working for what basically is a criminal enterprise and they don't see it because they are in it and profit by it, yet it is these people who are determining our future and the future of our children.

Mankind is becoming a willing slave to the pathocratic structures created by the inhuman obsessive greed of this small percentage of humanity that cannot feel conscience. This book is a MUST READ. Only by knowing what we are dealing with can we do anything about it without going in circles. We are dealing with an intelligent predator that feeds on the soul of humanity. It seems to me that there are only a very few who are now speaking of psychopathy and (macrosocial) Evil in the way Lobaczewski speaks of it, since it has been suppressed for so long, but knowledge of the behavior of these deviants, these snakes in suites, is essential so we can recognize this "predator within our midst" and then do something about it with any real and lasting results

5.0 out of 5 stars The most important book, July 1, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
The opening statement in the editor's preface states, "The book you hold in your hand may be the most important book you will ever read; if fact, it will be." That's a pretty tall order for anyone to say about any book. In todays world where statements are often used as masks to manipulate, it could easily be taken as puffery. I wasn't finished with the book before I completely agreed that it is indeed the most important book I have ever read. In fact it goes to the source of why and how our world is filled with such manipulative masks and how we can protect ourselves from them. Before understanding the concepts in this book I didn't have much hope for humanity - thinking that we're inherently evil. But we're not. We are infected with the 'thinking' processes of psychopaths that had had their influence on man's ideologies since day one. This gives me hope because even if we are sick there is a chance we can get better. With the spread of the knowledge in this book there is hope that we can live in a life fufilling world, instead of the destructive one currently led by psychopaths and psychological deviants.

5.0 out of 5 stars Earth 101, June 18, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
This book holds information in it that every man, woman, and child on this planet needs to understand; 4-6% of our worlds population are born without conscience. This fundamental deficit in a minority of the population allows our global tragedy to continue unabated.

Our lack of awareness is also a contributing factor. If we properly understood that some people are without conscience we'd protect our society, eliminating them from positions of power, identifying their pseudologic and twisting of words, preventing it from causing damage.
As it is right now, we have major news networks that spew forth psychological bacteria on a daily basis and no one seems to notice.

Properly understood, this tome acts to innoculate the reader against narcissism and conversive thinking, the two major components of consciencelessness.

A Must Read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended, June 11, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
Required reading for anyone seeking to understand why our world is controlled by sociopaths and how evil flourishes in every society. This is the first book I've ever seen that studies evil in a scientific manner. For anyone who cares about the future of the planet and wants to stop the endless wars and suffering manufactured by the power elite, I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Knowledge of evil and how to prevent it, June 23, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
It is said that men are born with a good nature. So why is it that there is so much destruction and suffering throughout the human history? Is evil real? How to stop it? This book has the answers to those questions. It is a summary of the first scientific study of what is called macro-social evil and the process by which it spreads in the society.

In the early parts of the book, the author gives an overview on the root cause of macro-social evil: the small percentage of psycho-pathological deviants who nevertheless have a disproportionally large influence on the minds of normal humans. Due to the lack of psychological knowledge among normal humans, these deviants easily infiltrate social groups, movements, etc.. When the society is in a sufficiently hysterical state, the psychological deviants that are always present can transform the entire society into its worst form: a pathocracy. The most notable examples of that are the Roman empire and the Nazi Germany.

The latter parts are devoted to examining the life cycle of a pathocracy: how it forms, evolves and self-destructs. The good news is that a pathocracy self-destructs relatively quickly, just like a particularly dangerous virus quickly killing sick body. The bad news is that even in its short life cycle, a pathocracy can inflict unmeasurable damage to the lives of normal humans living under its rule and those living close to it.

Although it is not a light reading due to the need to compress so much knowledge into a reasonable-sized book, this book is a must read for every human beings with a conscience. It is particularly relevant today as the U.S. is well on the way to become a full-fledged pathocracy. To stop evil, we must first understand evil.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is happening right now!, October 27, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
Anyone who is really paying attention will recognize what the author writes in current world events. Evilness had always been present in the history of humanity and only with knowledge and modes of same, of how it rises, how it propagates, who propagates it and why, how insidious it might be, who is susceptible to fall into it, etc... we will be able to counteract it. Political ponerology puts it all together in a scientific way and it also brings to our awareness the consequences of ignoring the evil nature of our world. This book should be read by all of those who represent an ideology, a political party, by psychologists, experts in the field of psychopathy and all of those who advocate to be against any injustice and evilness in this world.

This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
The work that went into gathering the information, and the events leading up to this books publication is a story in itself. But what is more is the information that is within its pages regarding the circumstances that we find outselves, in todays world. Ever wonder why humanity seems to always through the eons of time, keep trying to annihilate themselves. Well, the secret is within this book. And the answer is both chilling and amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read book for every Human Being, June 23, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
A great book that should be read by everybody as it provides valuable information in understanding why our society has seen a disappearance of human values and an increase in hedonistic behaviours with little care for others.

Lobaczewski's great contribution is in showing the process by which people with psychopathic personality disorders congregate and slowly take over organizations, political parties, businesses to finally stifle the whole of society.

It goes to great length in explaining the phenomenon of psychopathy on a macro scale. It deals in a non-judgmental way with the subject of evil. The author clearly lays out the various types of psychopathy and what happens when they combine their various talents and manage to take over a society from the inside and start to rule over normal people in the form of a pathocracy. Though the author primarily deals with examples from his own life experiences under the rule in the former Soviet Union, the parallels to today's world are chilling and very spot on. The book has many footnotes from the editor Laura Knight Jadczyk which clarifies and brings added information to some of the issues dealt with.

The book not only describes the process by which evil takes over but also how it progresses and how normal people can stand up to it. In order to do that, knowledge of the system is needed and that is what this book gives. As the author says at the end of the book then more research is needed, but it is a very profound seminal work that should inspire many to take up this important subject and continue the research.

After reading this book I read 'The Sociopath next door' by Martha Stout, 'In Sheeps Clothing' by George Simon, 'The Mask of Sanity' by Hervey Checkley and 'Without Conscience' by Robert Hare, all of whom deal with different aspects of the phenomenon of psychopaths but on a micro scale. Very complimentary!

Put this book on top of your reading list and pass it around to friends. The knowledge contained in this book could be what saves humanity going down the drain completely and move to towards human values again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential!, October 27, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
I wish I had this when I was studying history in school. I have always wondered why so many governmental institutions turn bad and do evil things to their people. All throughout history this has been the case and nothing has changed. Even the US today has gone down the tubes and it seems like other countries are soon to follow.

This book delves into the inner machinations of how such a process can happen. It is the psychological "Why" to the fall of empires. It exposes and analyzes the psychological construct of those in position of power and how the psychopathy of powerful men can have such a dehabilitating effect on the public. So much so that even the people begin to adopt half-truths and misguided ideologies as their own.

Although it can be a little technical at times, Lobaczewski gives us a vibrant and detailed despcription of the types of psychological deviants running our country and how they maintain such hold us in their thrall. However, he also gives us a means of escape and the knowledge necessary to free our mind from their distorted world view.

A must read for all if you want to why those in positions of great power are also some of the most evil minds around.

5.0 out of 5 stars How Evil and suffering gets created and flourishes infront of our eyes, September 22, 2007
This review is from: Political Ponerology (A Science on the Nature of Evil Adjusted for Political Purposes) (Paperback)
This is a very important book to read for everybody. After reading this one will clearly understand how few people like bush, cheney, hilter, stalin come to power and how they corrupt the minds of the people under shocks and stick to the power by all brutal, inhuman means. This is a true psycologist's life long work of in observing, analysing, synthesising how these brutal rulers psychopathic deviant mind creates horror to unsuspecting population and how population them selves becomes a process called ponerisation to become accomplice of the horror. Great Book
