Much effort has been undertaken to improve and expand the Almanac in the 2001-2002 edition. While the United States presidential election was an impetus to include more and detailed information relevant to that particular event, the reader will also notice the addition of Congressional district maps, augmented historical information, and significant enhancements to the national government profiles. It should be noted that the Political History section has been eliminated and the information therein distributed among the other sections. It is believed that the data will prove to be more accessible in this arrangement. Also, due to the increase in size of international information provided, it has been split into two sections, Nations of the World and International Organizations. These will replace the former World Governments section.
It is hoped that in future editions, the information presented may be expanded and presented in yet more useful ways. To this end, the author and publishers of the almanac would welcome and encourage suggestions from readers to assist us in our continuing efforts to create the most comprehensive and useful reference work available on the subject.
