This book is a compilation of writings by English utopian philosopher James Harrington (1611-1677). He was a political theorist of classical republicanism, best known for his writing The Commonwealth of Oceana (included in this collection), a book which was censored and seized by Oliver Cromwell. Harrington was subsequently arrested and tortured.
