Book Description

April 18, 2006

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the real national zoo!

As Aristotle said, "Man is a political animal." Talk radio sensation and New York Times best-selling author Michael Savage is afraid that the ancient philosopher was all too right, and in ways he never could have imagined. In Savage's funniest, most biting book yet, the nation's fiercest independent thinker invites you to take a riotous tour through The Political Zoo-an outrageous look at today's most prominent politicos and pundits as the reptiles, rats, and birds of prey they most resemble.

Animal by animal and cage by cage, Savage brandishes his irreverent wit to keep these beasts in check. Serving as resident biologist and zookeeper, Dr. Savage asks that you watch your step when approaching the widemouth copperhead Ted Turner (also known as Mouthus desouthus), do not feed the ego of stuffed turkey Alec Baldwin (Notalentus anti-americanus), and please keep your children with you at all times around wolf boy Bill Clinton (Fondlem undgropeum).

"The world of politics is filled with uncivilized, snarling, rapacious beasts that, like untrained mutts, raise their legs and urinate on everything we hold dear," says Savage. And this sensational book is your guide for navigating the jungle of today's animal-political kingdom.

Editorial Reviews

From AudioFile

Michael Savage truly lives up to his name in this vicious, relentless tirade against the movers and shakers of our world. "The world of politics is filled with uncivilized, snarling, rapacious beasts that, like untrained mutts, raise their legs and urinate on everything we hold dear." Reader Tim Lundeen tries to deliver wit and comic wisdom in Savage's parade of politicos and media superstars and occasionally achieves a balance between the "beasts" and the zookeeper, but he can't keep Savage's cynicism, sarcasm, and unbridled cruelty from his voice. The production is jarred by blaring musical interludes that add a further unnerving element to a distinctly unpleasant listening experience. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great insight into the elitus asleepus, April 23, 2006

I love, love, love this book. Dr. Savage nails everyone of these characters with
wit, incredible humor and facts. His ability to reduce complex issues and thoughts
into concise descriptions makes it possible for everyone to understand.

The fact that he isn't interviewed or asked to comment on all the various political
shows on TV and the radio is an outrage. We need many more who can speak out
like him and tell it like it is without fear of not being politically correct.

A friend told me he can't listen because Michael yells too much. Well I say someone
needs to be yelling about things right now. What do you think Paul Revere did!

Keep shouting it from the mountain tops Michael, we're listening!

5.0 out of 5 stars Savage Rules, May 15, 2006
This review is from: The Political Zoo (Hardcover)
Notice how the "Savage Weiner" psychos never attack Savage's positions on current issues, they just attack his name change and positions he supposedly took on alternative medicine 25 years ago? It kind of speaks for itself, doesn't it? They have to attack him on something other than his positions, since he is right on target about them and they know it. They do the same thing to Ann Coulter - "She lied about her age on her driver's license." Yea, so? What does that have to do with her ability to call liberals out on their utter stupidity? It's a small group of radical propagandists who chase Savage and Coulter, creating websites devoted entirely to discrediting them and they go after Savage's advertisers too - I can tell by these posts it's the same group of people with the same tired smears that have been posted online for years. One of them even calls himself "Savage Weiner." He's so obsessed with despising Michael Savage, he named himself after him. I was crashing their message boards 4 years ago - just wait, they will come back and post something about Savage "swimming naked with Allen Ginsburg." I don't care if he married Allen Ginsburg, it has nothing to do with his accuracy as a pundit. Facts are facts, which is why they never attack his arguments, just his past life as a hippie in the 60's. He was amongst them in his early years, which is why he has such an iron grip on how to best expose them and that is why they work day and night to try to discredit HIM, not his arguments.

Notice how aside from only a couple reviewers who didn't like the style or tone of the book, the only critical review that even addressed Savage's arguments in a rational manner was a conservative defending Rush Limbaugh? The left-wing dolts in the Savage Weiner crowd again just exposed themselves as complete idiots and saved me the trouble.

Though a die-hard Savage fan, I wasn't sure if I would like the Political Zoo based on the general premise until I read the chapter on Bono (Gaelic shamus). When he asked Bono, "What's next almighty Bono? A worldwide stand against sadness? An end to B.O.? A cure for death?" I was laughing out loud. And that's only page 22. Then he tops the Bono section off at the end by quoting "one of the more intelligent members of the rock-and-roll species," Alice Cooper...

"If you're listening to rock stars in order to get your information on who to vote for, you are a bigger moron than they are."

I'm only on the "C's," just now embarking on the Jimmy Carter (Marxus peanutfarmera) section, but I can tell you the Bono chapter alone is worth the purchase price.

How about one of you Savage Weiners come forward and try to refute something in the Political Zoo with evidence?

This review is from: The Political Zoo (Hardcover)
For a political reader of Savage and his cohorts (I hesitate to say cohorts, because he would say he has no equals--but they're part of the scene, let's say)...this is a creative breath of fresh air and for liberal, conservative, or independent alike--if you cannot find something funny here, then you may have either lost or never had a sense of humor....but that, of course, is for the reader to find out!

I'd highly recommend this book--and that you listen to his radio show while he is still reading from it. He alludes to many topics not mentioned here, which are well worth the time to hear about.

If anything here offends you, that is probably a good thing. He does not spare Republicans, and Dick Cheney's ox is well gored...
