Book Description

June 15, 2006
Remember the golden rule: He who has the gold rules! And in this case, it's the special interests who want more wealth than they already have and are willing to share that wealth with the politicians who helped make it all happen. Follow the money and you'll see how our moneyed political system costs each taxpayer over $3000 per year to offset government tax giveaways and other corporate welfare.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"If you want to know how the corporations have taken over our system, read this book! There is more information to scare any red-blooded American into a rebellion than anything I've seen. You may actually start to cry after reading it. This book really is amazing!"" -- Dr. Peter Rost, Author The Whistleblower: Confessions of a Healthcare Hitman

"Wisconsin businessman and reform leader Jack Lohman is a true soldier for democracy. This book tells how our deeply flawed system of privately financed elections benefits the big contributors and hurts ordinary Americans. The good news is he also lays out how to set things right. Read this book, feel the outrage and join Lohman in fighting for new "Clean Elections" victories!"

From the Publisher

Connects the dots between politicians and those who fund their elections, the disease, and shows the massive cost to the taxpayers, the symptom. Proposes public funding of campaigns as the cure, all at a cost of just $15 per taxpayer per year for both state and federal elections. That would eliminate most of the $4000 per taxpayer per year in government giveaways. It simply doesn't matter what your core issue is, follow the money and you'll always find a politician at the end with his hand out. Tax giveaways for the rich and subsidies to corporations are chump-change compared to the societal costs of the expensive giveaway policies that are bought and paid for by corporate interests. Ever wonder why health care costs are rising at 15% per year, and the industry is getting away with it? Or companies are no longer penalized for hiring illegal immigrants? These are just a couple of the hundreds of policies that erode American wealth.

This review is from: Politicians - Owned and Operated by Corporate America (Hardcover)
A concise and fact filled book with references that details the way Corporate America has co-opted our democratic system through campaign financing, lobbyists and money. The author not only shows who and how but offers ways to fix the system and return America to its democratic roots.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificent!! A Masterpiece!!!, May 9, 2007

This review is from: Politicians - Owned and Operated by Corporate America (Hardcover)
Jack Lohman shines a brilliant spotlight on the corruption and greed that has permeated our democracy, and exposes how corporate money influences the decisions of our elected officials in government. It's no secret that most of our politicians are under the control of corporate interests, and you'll find many well-documented examples on key issues exposed in this book. Only true campaign finance reform can save our political system from the corruption, which has infiltrated every aspect of our government. Mr. Lohman goes on to show how for only 15 taxpayer dollars per year, we could fully fund the election process. Also, by enacting a more fairly balanced election system such as IRV (Instant Runoff Voting), we could elect more majority-chosen candidates.

If you care about this nation, whether you're a politician, a soldier, a concerned citizen, or even a Rush Limbaugh sycophant, I urge you to read this book. The system is broken and it needs to be fixed. Too many jobs lost to oversea manufacturers, too many foreclosures on middle class homes, and too many neglected cities, in this cycle of corporate welfare generated by campaign contributions.

It's time to take our country back, and Mr. Lohman shows us a good number of ways we can do it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Joining the fight in Texas, January 12, 2007
This review is from: Politicians - Owned and Operated by Corporate America (Hardcover)
Politicians - Owned and Operated by Corporate America is aptly titled. An honest book. The most refreshing thing that sets this book apart is the common sense solutions Jack Lohman offers. Obviously written from the viewpoint of a true patriot with insider knowledge. Covering a vast array of topics this is a handy reference on how to restore our government to the people. If you are reading this review you too must be concerned for the future of our country. I highly recommend this book. If it were a speaking engagement, the fee for one chapter would be a bundle and worth every penny.
