3-1/2 stars -- Surprisingly decent,

Last year seemed to be filled up with nothing but dismal releases of rap albums (Kia Shine, Soulja Boy Tell `Em, TWO from the Pack, and the list goes on and on). Within the last few months, though, with the exception of Lil' Wayne, no one's really been releasing any mainstream rap records at ALL. Who would have guessed that one of the most listenable releases in a while would be a mixtape from JR Writer? While I'm not going to ask what JR Writer is even doing on Babygrande, I'll say that although the album is called Pollitcs and BS, I wonder just where that title came from because there are no political tracks on here at all. But there ARE some pretty decent tunes like "Let It Rain", "Hands Up" and possibly "You Know I'm Nice". And while the freestyle "Come With Me" doesn't really have JR saying anything new, it's also pretty solid. However, when JR tries to use classic samples for his choruses, he hits ("Uptown Girl") and misses ("It's Like a Jungle"). But other hooks also fail, like "How You Want It" and "Do Dat". And "Dimelo" makes no sense. Politics and BS is above-average, but like I said in my review for 40 Cal's latest mixtape, if you're not a big fan of Dipset, B.I.F. Anthony Rupert

This is the 4th album/mixtape of JR's that I have or have heard, and this is his best and most consistant of those ("History in the Making", "Writers Block 3" and "My Past Is Your Future" are all around 3.5 star albums in my opinion, and are the only other albums I've heard of his). This one is short, with 15 songs, but clocking in under 40 minutes, you get a few minute to 2 min. songs.freestyles. Guests are only on 2 songs so you do get to hear a good bit from JR. Of the 15 songs, 4 are almost classic material, 2 are ok, the other 9 are good, a few being real good songs. Production is nice as well. Spectacular & Trak Dealerz each do 2 songs, Mel One, Heatmakerz, IDK, Dame Grease, M Dot Murda, GM, GL Beats, Soul Professor, YH, Hood Ghanddi, B-Roc & Piff each do 1 song. A nice album to pick up and my favorite of his that I've heard.#1 - 9 (nice beat) #2 - 9 (nice beat) #3 - 9.5 #4 - 9.5 (tight beat) #5 - 9.5 (tight beat) #6 - 8 #7 -8.5 #8 - 8 #9 - 7.5 #10 - 8.5 #11 - 8 (f/ Fred Mney) #12 - 9 (nice beat) #13 - 9.5 (tight beat) #14 - 8.5 #15 - 7.5 (f/ Fred Money) R. I just cant figure out why JR is so underrated he's been down with the dipset for years but only has 1 official album that flopped and 100 mixtapes. This is a hot tape here If you a dipset fan it's a must have. If you want some real rap and not watered down auto-tune rap get this to satisfy your craveing for real rap.
