This review is from: The Politics of Demonology: The European Witchcraze and the Mass Production of Deviance (Hardcover)
I originally stumbled upon this book while doing research for a paper on witchcraft in the middle ages. the first part of the book deals with the origin of witchcraft and gives a very concise overview of the social strain around witches in the 14th to 17th century. just for curiosity i read on, and discovered that the second part of the book does a very good job of tying together demonology and politics of deviance in the modern era (mccarthy, holocaust). especially the section about the third reich in germany is extremely interesting.
all in all, the book is written in an excellent and interesting manner, very quotable and has clear, structured ideas. i thouroughly recommend it for both scholarly research and informative reading.
