This book is in my opinion a very good book. Well-written and well-organised with ample sources. It is based on insights of Foucault about the impact of medicine and other disciplines on our society and our self-image. For readers not familiar with Foucault and other theorists on the 'Psy-complex' this book presents all the essential background-information and takes this kind of analysis one step further; into the 21st century.What I appreciate is that it is free from ideological/political dogmatism. It presents a complicated reality that we all deal with: we are in many ways biological subjects and this is of interest for many social institutions and for you and me as an individual too. It sketches the challenges for the near future. It shows how much is linked here. Higly recommended! |
