5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
Gene sharp is one of the modern masters of nonviolence, and this series (and specifically this book) demonstrate why. I disagree with the way he compares nonviolence to a weapon system, but I'm more of a purist. It's also probably necessary to do so in order to convince military leaders to take it seriously, so it's understandable in that respect. This book is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't Be Ripped Off
I'm glad I bought this book which is the 2nd of a series of three, as well as another title by this author.

But BEWARE: This book is UNDER $20 NEW from sources that can be easily found. Don't be ripped off by paying forty, eighty, or hundreds of dollars for any book in this series. If it's for the correct price, my rating would go up.

I disagree with the way he compares nonviolence to a weapon system, but I'm more of a purist. It's also probably necessary to do so in order to convince military leaders to take it seriously, so it's understandable in that respect. This book is amazingly detailed and goes into every nonviolent method. I particularly enjoyed the chapters with more psychological aspects to them. One of the best books (and authors) on the topic.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Great~, March 4, 2009
This review is from: Politics of Nonviolent Action, Part Two: The Methods of Nonviolent Action (Paperback)
Though it is a bit day-old book, its contents are not so outdated or whatever. Still, sadly, there are so many dictators, undemocratic governments and aggressor nations. So, all methods in this book could be applied to those cases. And Though I'm not using English as a mother language, there was no difficulties in reading through. It was written in very very easy english. Try it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Informative!, March 22, 2011

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Politics of Nonviolent Action, Part Two: The Methods of Nonviolent Action (Paperback)
I must confess that I almost donated this book to the Salvation Army, as it was among hundreds that I had bought for $1.00 or less at various bookstores and library sales, and we are packing to sell our house...trying to clear things out!
Alerted to Gene Sharp's prominence as a mentor in the many non-violent protests ongoing in Egypt and elsewhere I rescued it from the donation box, and, reading it, discovered a treasure for those awakening from our cultural stupor of fear, violence, and it's rationalization by disturbed nationalistic egos. There is much information on, as the title indicates, the methods of nonviolent action, and even if you are familiar with the campaigns in Gandhi or Martin Luther King you will discover much, much more here. Revealing these historical examples to our children would be revolutionary!
I must find some terrible books to review as I am always giving 5 star reviews!
