Although originally intended for HT, I currently use my equipment for 2.1 Stereo Music listening only
Point to note :
Read up on the antimode Cinema as that is feeding the Bass going to the Polk and hence using the sub without one will certainly be a different experience.
Exterior : Looks great. Solid Build, The cherry veneer is very nicely done but a touch on the brighter side. All the dials, connectors and inputs are neatly presented behind the sub and easy to use. The feet provide a decent grip for the most part but for heavy duty bass I have noticed it "walking" a bit. I have the sub placed on an Auralex subdude.
Placement : Extremely important, makes a big difference to the quality of bass. Read a few articles on positioning subwoofers and keep experimenting with corners and sides till you get the sound you like. It took me more than 2-3 weeks of moving furniture and speakers around to finally nail it. Trust me the effort is worth it. This is good advice for any subwoofer by the way.
Settings : Initially I had the Sub connected to my AVR, and IMO the bass was boomy and had a 1 note feel to it. That was what led me to a study of room acoustics (loudspeaker interaction with the room), the benefits of parametric EQ, Crossovers and limiters and then I landed up with the Dspeaker Antimode cinema Sub EQ.
Tip - Use AVR distance settings to compensate for Phase anamolies. Google Phase / AVR distance to get more information on that topic.
DONT GIVE UP ON THE SUB IF YOUR BASS IS NOT SATISFACTORY - CHECK YOUR ROOM ACOUSTICS AND CONSIDER BASS TRAPS AND ROOM EQ.Read more ›
enough about this subwoofer as it has provided a depth
of listening enjoyment that I have not experienced for
years - my other recently acquired Polk speakers
(bookshelf & center speakers)were lacking in decible depth
then the subject woofer turned my system into an awesome
speaker match and I have gone to playing tunes from rarely
to all-the-time - I'm so pleased with the quality of sound
from the entire system! and the cherry-wood exterior of all
four speakers has a quality appearance and adds much to our
home decor -
This sub is well under the $2oo level. In consideration of this it is a outstanding value.
The sound is tight and well controlled. It fills my theater room w/o problems and is not over done.
Another reviewer gave this sub a poor rating, but that reviewer was not talking about the PSW 110.
1) This sub as with any sub needs to be setup properly. While position in a room has some importance, I must disagree with another reviewer in that
it is not of paramount value. Low frequencies are quite non-directional, so nearly any location will work well.
2) The sub has a max cutoff at 250Hz. It does not need to be set to this value if one owns good main speakers. Doing so will
make the sub sound "mushy" (a)
(a) My AVR has the ability to control crossover points; so that is precisely how I set mine, allowing my receiver to control the crossover & level to the sub channel.
No sub is perfect, nor can it be. Every source, be it satellite music, CD, DVD or a blu-ray movie produced in (DTS-HD-Master) will sound different, requiring the user to set the sub to taste. (i.e) I set it differently depending on what I am listening to.
I gave the sub 4 stars only because there is no switch to completely turn it off. In standby mode, the LED still illuminates.
This sub performs very very well.

Took some adjustment but after that wow. Really a quality sub. Only complaint is the finish doesn't match the speaker. But at the price a small issue.Published 17 months ago by D. Adair
Very subtle. Clean bass, or at least that's the way it sounds for the music I listen to.Published 19 months ago by B.
Yes, this is a great subwoofer. The bass is present when needed, it doesn't overemphasize the bass all the time. Great sound should have clean bass, powerful yet not overpowering. Read morePublished 19 months ago by Samuel Mejia
