I bought this from Circuit City to replace another older Polk powered subwoofer which was ruined in a basement flood. That one had only a 10 inch woofer but it did a very good job with the bass frequencies of my surround sound setup. This one sounds bigger, louder, tighter and better defined in the low end and is punchier. I've had it for two months and it has broken in nicely and may still be breaking in. When I first purchased the PSW125 it sounded quite nice and then the bass kind of diminished a bit for a month or so and then started coming back as the speaker cone settled in. The bass is now extremely powerful and it functions superbly with my Polk sattelite, center channel and rear surround speakers to give a fat full 3D gorgeous sound. Totally blows away movie theater house sound systems for power and clarity. Get one, give it a couple months or so to fully break in and you will be rewarded. Polk powered subwoofers are excellent and reliable, just keep them away from flood water!

This is a great sub. I must say that it did take a while to "break in" and get as deep as it is now. I would say not to expect it to blow you away out of the box but it will come around!

I'm using the subwoofer in a home theater system. The speaker
is connected to a receiver; I'm also using a Polk soundbar.
The sound is great and the crossover from the soundbar speakers
to the subwoofer is seamless.

A great value for the price paid. The only issue was to find a
large enough space in my cabinet as this subwoofer is fairly large.
I got it in by moving other components around, but I should have
looked into this issue before ordering the subwoofer. So, check
your available space and buy accordingly.

I purchased this 12 inch Polk Sub woofer online for $195 plus shipping at expoNJ.com [List and at my local Best Buy was $399] Shipping was the only negative .somewhat slow . Another $30 and it took 2 weeks to arrive. It was perfect, not a second or a refurbished . . It's performance is astounding . . easy to connect, clear instructions, and it can connect to any amp . . you don't need a 'sub woofer output'- just use the existing left and right amp outputs if you don't have a lowlevel connection . . This is my sons who lives on a low bass rumble . . even he is impressed . . I want to steal it from him for my Home Theater surround sound system . . IF there is a better deal on a great sub woofer, I haven't found it yet !!!

I paired this sub with a polk cs10 center, polk tsi 100 front,and polk t15 surround with my sony str-de945 reciever and it is crazy intence! The sound will blow you off of the couch! crystal clear and the bass will knock your teeth out! We love it!
p.s..YES IT IS TRUE, YOU WILL NEED TO BREAK IN THE SPEAKERS (ALL OF THEM) AND IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 15-20 HOURS, BUT YOU WILL HEAR AND FEEL THE DIFFERENCE!

This sub is a beast. Don't be mislead by the pictures.
The weight and size of it is substantial.
I recently replaced my speakers with some Magneplanar MMGs which are fantastic. There
was a forum for the speakers, and the people were recommending subs anywhere from $500 - $1000+.
I'm no audiophile, and I just couldn't see spending that kind of money.
This sub added the bottom that was missing with just the speakers.
Its really easy to set up. Make sure you pick a corner of your room that this will fit in.
I've listened to country, classical and techno. It made everything sound !00% better. Give it some time
to completely break in.
They recommend a song with a walking bass line to help with the adjustments. I found "Walking After Midnight"
by Patsy Cline did a really good job.
Depending on where you live, be careful with the volume, or your walls will be shaking.
The price on Amazon was less than the price being charged on the Polk Audio web site.
Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. As I mentioned above, there is no need to spend a lot of
money on a subwoofer.
Make sure you buy a quality subwoofer cable to go with this.

Great Speakers specially if you consider the price. Only wish the Black finish would match the wood appearence of the rest of my setup.

I had a PSW-140 (over 10 years old) that finally died. I think it was from a power surge. Sent the amp section back to Polk for repair. Because parts are no longer available, they could not fix it. However, Polk did something that has made me a life-long customer. They offered me a deal on any current-model Polk subwoofer of my choosing, since I went to the trouble to send in the old amp for repair. I picked the 125 and I'm very happy with it. From start to finish, I dealt directly with a manager at Polk who was very helpful, informative and a really nice guy to boot. You can tell he loves his work. And the deal he gave me on the new unit was unbelievable - I can't thank Polk enough. I'm not going to publish the price for the replacement because I don't think it's fair to Polk. This was an unusual situation, and they did an unusually nice thing for a long-time customer. This is a company I like dealing with. The only reason I rated the 125 4 stars rather than 5 is that there are better, more expensive subs out there. Everybody knows that. But even at the $349 price point, this sub is a bargain for great sound!

witnessed this sub at the local circuit city. I was sitting for a good 30 minutes listening. This is a GREAT SUB. 4 stars because i feel price is a bit steep.
