The sub is outfitted with a pair of long throw 12-inch polymer composite cone drivers with butyl rubber surrounds that deliver enough rim-rattling bass to make any song sound rich and deep. The woofer is further supported by a rigid ABS dustcap that stiffens the cone, thus ensuring greater mechanical stability and lower distortion. Add in the four-layer high temperature voice coil former, the cone/coil coupler, and the pole piece--all of which are double vented to withstand high power handling--and you have a powerful, full-bodied sub that satisfies everyone from casual listeners to serious audiophiles. The sub's frequency response checks it at a healthy 20 Hz to 200 Hz, with a peak power handling of 1500 watts (720 watts continuous). In addition, the DB 212-2's voice coil alignment, motor, and suspension were optimized using a state-of-the-art Klippel laser analyzer, resulting in superior cone linearity, a flatter response, and minimal distortion.
