The speakers are certified to withstand the toughest marine environments, so you can install them in ski and wakeboarding boats in addition to cars and trucks. More importantly, the audio performance is as robust as the housing thanks to the 6.5-inch, dynamic balance, polymer/mica composite cone woofers, whose stiffness and light weight create a big sound with little distortion. Meanwhile, the 1-inch silk/polymer composite dome tweeter includes flush and surface mount swivel cups for added audio and installation flexibility.
Also along for the ride are low-mass, two-layer Kapton voice coils that produce a high sound output and robust power handling, along with durable Butyl rubber surrounds that won't fall apart under the stress of extreme temperatures, long exposure to sunlight, or the rigors of time.
Installation is abetted by the multi-hole mounting pattern and shallow mounting depth--a mere 2.31 inches for the main speakers--for easy drop-in installation in almost any vehicle. The vented crossover housing adds to the system's versatility by offering hidden wire channels. The channels are designed to facilitate easier, more professional-looking installs without sacrificing access.
Other features include a pole-plate heat sink that promotes better heat dissipation for superior power handling and reliability; a flat spider that enables faster and longer excursions; flexible woven leads sewn directly into the spider for greater dependability; an electronic tweeter protection circuit; rock-solid, acoustically inert stamped steel baskets with a rustproof gunmetal gray finish; and muscular, computer-optimized ABS grilles.
The DB 6500 system, which offers a frequency response of 40 Hz to 22 kHz and a peak power handling of 300 watts (100 watts continuous), requires a mounting cutout diameter of 5 inches for the main speakers and 2 inches for the tweeter. The system is also backed by a one-year warranty.
What's in the Box

Misleading product description - Excellent product!,

First of all, who ever put together the product description together couldn't be bothered to look inside the package - two tweeters are included - not one - a tweeter for each driver. It's a component system, Amazon!I bought a pair to complement another brand and I loved them so much that I ditched the other brand and now have four of these bad-boys in my truck. I'm driving all four speakers in parallel using an ancient Kenwood PS150 @ 2 Ohms. The base and mid-range are unbelievable. The highs are ear piercing. They completely drown out my diesel Dodge Ram; I didn't think that was possible. You do need a good amp to get the full benefit of these speakers - they LOVE to be driven hard. Although they won't produce the window-rattling ghetto base, you will feel in the floors and seats. Dynomat or similar vibration dampening material is pretty much a must.

I had these installed in the doors of my Mr2 turbo. Now, the last set of speakers I owned were Pioneers, and they were in my previous car, so it's hard to rate these by comparison. Also, an MR2 listening environment is not exactly the same as sedan or an SUV. It's a bit noisier. So to really listen to something, I have to be sitting at idle. But to speak for the quality of these things, just yesterday as I was nearing home, I came across one of the most amazing techno pieces I've ever heard in my life. The volume was moderately loud and I was just blown away by the detail and richness of the piece. Obviously, these speakers delivered that experience, so I'd say they are pretty darn good speakers. My speakers are also complemented by a Stage II Rockford Fosgate 10" subwoofer, placed right behind my seat in a small enclosure designed for a pick-up truck cabin. The sub is powered by a 700watt dedicated amplifier, while the Polks just run off the head unit, which is a mid-level Pioneer with ipod cable (a must have for me). I listen to all kinds of music, from Techno to Death/Power/Black Metal, Rock, Pop, 80's, etc. The sound produced is bright and clear, thanks to the component setup. Performance has been solid so far. I will end this review by saying that when I get in the car and plug in my ipod, I'm always glad I bought these speakers.
