Like the previous reviewer, i also got this set for my 2007 Lexus ES350 (actually, his review along with positive notes from other sources convinced me to do so). I power this with a Polk PA500.4 amp and use a pair of Polk DB651 for the rear channels. The sound is amazing. I am able to push it as loudly as i can possibly tolerate AND there is no distortion. Highly recommended this. Frys Electronics sells this at $329 so Amazon is a bargain.

I ordered these to replace the standard speakers in my 2007 Lexus ES350. I installed the Polk 6.5 inch speakers in the front doors in place of the factory speakers, and the improvement in sound quality is incredible. (Note to similar vehicle owners: Disconnect the factory center dash speaker to avoid volume/voice mismatch between the new and center speaker.) Installation was difficult, as it was necessary to cut up the factory speaker brackets to make these fit (3rd party universal fit brackets can be purchased to make this easier). I did not bother with the Polk tweeters or crossover units - I left the factory equipment in place, as the crossover units are bulky - about 2.5" x 4.5" x 1.5". The MM6501 speakers have plenty of bass and low midrange sound for pop, easy listening, and classical music. The speakers have excellent clarity - they don't sound muddy or distorted like the car's factory speakers. I can set the bass, mid, & treble of my stereo to "flat" and get pleasing sound, and the speakers are not at all tiring to listen to. The price on Amazon is half that some other vendors charge. The speaker have spade connectors. The package includes foam gaskets and and wire terminated with spade connectors, but no screws. I highly recommend these speakers.

Amazing quality - but one burned out on 55 watts rms. This may have just been a defective driver. If you buy from Amazon beware that they won't do anything to help you with your 1 year warranty because they use subsellers that are NOT authorized dealers for Polk Audio. You really only have a 30 day warranty.

I installed these speakers in my 2001 Honda Accord and they sound great with a 220 Watt (rms) 4 channel Hifonics amp. They will not distort to reasonably high volumes - definitely outpaced my two 600 Watt (rms) type-R Alpine subs (sealed - 4 ohms ot the amp). I am also running 6x9" MB Quarts in the back (rear-fill, not as important). I dynamated doors and floors (about to do the trunk) - already very nice and plenty loud. You will need an amplifier to get to their potential - about 50 Watts rms per speaker will work great. I would suggest anyone to use these with subs as you simply can't expect midrange woofers to push hard below 80 Hz. Dyanamat (or similar) is necessary for doors because these midrange woofers will make your stock doors buzz.

Installation was easy in my 2006 Subaru Legacy GT. The woofers fit in the stock holes with no modification necessary. The tweeters required slight modification of the factory bracket. I needed to cut plastic away from factory bracket so I could mount the tweeter basket correctly. Wiring was straight forward and I used an included clip/screw to mount the cross-over. These have significantly better sound than the stock speakers (as expected). I will need to install sound insulation material to tighten everything up.

Before investing in these speakers I had done quite a bit of research on the numerous component speaker systems.. Several looked promising, with high quality materials with large magnets, until i came upon these. I noticed right off the bat the sensitivity level is 94db, which is significantly higher than a lot of the other brands.Higher sensitivity uses the most out of the signal your amp or stock head unit put out.. either way you will be surprised how loud and clear the highs are and how much those mids punch through.I was told that by a couple who have owned the db series that the MM series of polk is far better. Its been several weeks since i have installed them and i must say its the best single investment i made to this truck as of yet.

When I first pulled them out of the box, I was a bit scared about how small the magnets seemed to be. They look like cheap powerless speakers. I bought them because so many other reviewers rave about these speakers. They are right. I'm amazed at the sound these things produce. I have them sealed box mounted with a Rockford Fosgate T400-2. I haven't even broken them in yet and they sound fantastic. You will still need a subwoofer because the bass response curves off pretty quick. I don't think there's a lot of punch below 60hz. But the mid-bass is solid enough to still give you a little punch in the chest. Tweeters are nice and not too sharp or metallic but may need to be kept at -3db otherwise they're way out of balance. There are better component systems out there to be sure. But on a budget, these are the components to get. And if you're not on a budget, these are the components to get. Seriously, unless you're willing to pay 3x as much, I'm not sure these can be beat. And why spend that kind of money on components?

after getting tired of the stock speakers in my avalanch I decided to replace them with these polk audio speakers in the front and back,wow! what a big change in sound I literally heard detail I could only find on my home system,after changing these speakers I went with a kenwood amp as well and it only added to a real loud and perfect sound stage.If you buy these speakers you will get a very good sound stage with great bass the 94 db alone will get the loud head approval but if your a bass head, yes my friend you will need a sub.buy these with confidence.thanks amazon,e&b electronics for fast service and polk audio. the headhunter

I'm very impressed with these speakers. I wasn't sure how much difference I would notice between these (the MM series) and their less expensive DB series but wow! They are clear, bright and loud... :-) I'd highly recommend these components...

I decided to buy these Polk Audio MM6501 speakers over Boston Acoustics Pro 60SE speakers (both 6.5 inch 2 way component speakers). Both were rated at 125W. My decision between the two was based on the sensitivity rating (Polk was 93 Boston 90) and the fact that the Polk speakers were around $80 cheaper. I am powering them with a JL Audio Stealth amp with 150W RMS per channel & wanted to get the most out of what I had power-wise. I was replacing a pair of blown Focal Polyglass 75W speakers that were installed before where the JL amp melted the woofer coils surrounds.

When I received the speakers I was initially disappointed. The speakers do not have heavy magnets around the coils as you normally see. So at first I figured I had gotten ripped off as I have never seen this speaker design. However when I hooked them up & cranked them up - wow, nice sound. I don't even have them broken in yet & they sound really clean. So far, I am very happy with them.

I think these speakers sound great in my volvo wagon. One thing though, it to truly use speakers like this, you need a good amplifier, otherwise you're just wasting money.
