I orginally had a pair of JVC outdoor speakers and a passive subwoofer on my patio. Within a year the weather and bugs destroyer the paper cones making them all defunct. I planned to replace the speakers and subwoofer with better quality units. These Polk speakers seem to be constructed much better than the JVC's, but the biggest surprise was the sound quality. These speakers produce great high, mid and low frequency output. The low frequency output is so good (it BOOMS) that I see no need to buy an outdoor subwoofer.

I've installed Polk speakers in every car I've owned and have always been pleased with their outstanding sound quality, but was a little doubtful that I'd get the same great sound in weatherproof speakers. After listening to these beauties on my deck over the last 2 months, I'm please to report that they sound outstanding. Fantastic bass, great detail and great stereo field no matter how loud, soft or distant. Also, these speakers sat unmounted on my deck railing thru showers and one horrific rain/thunderstorm and are no worse for the wear. If you're considering outdoor speakers, make sure you go with all weather or weather proof as opposed to weather resistant, and I highly recommend these Polk speakers in particular. (I bought them on Amazon for $150 for the pair, so check around the site for prices.)

Outside entertaining has never been better. After 2 years with the rock speakers, finally going bust, we had to come up with a better solution. We did our research and bought the Polk speakers. We were so impressed and so are our friends. Loud and clear. Love 'em!

Using the Polk Audio Atrium 55 outside by pool. Great sound, projection and bass. I have really cranked them up at times and they have had no problem handling the volume.

I purchased these for an outdoor "zone" for my sonos system, I couldn't be happier. The powered sonos amp puts out 50W per channel and that is enough for these polk atrium 55s. For being outside (or even inside) the bass is amazing. The overall sound outputted by these is impressive, so much that I just ordered another pair for my backyard.

I put 4 of these on my deck, in Houston, and they have weathered as expected. They have been rained on, and I MEAN RAIN, they have had leaves blown in them and they sit in the sun and humidity. The sound is GREAT! They sound better than the speakers that i have inside! I would buy them again.

Got these for an outdoor deck/patio area. I was pleasantly surprised by how loud these can get - - -and with no distortion! The sound is crisp and clean. Perfect for ambiance music and can also be cranked up very loud for a big party! Worth every penny!

The speakers are great for backyard/deck and pool patio. They were easy to install though the wall bracket had to be bought. Excellent sound quality. Great buy!

These are perfect. I have them set up on my patio off the back of my house. They have great bass and sound very good.

I like the sound from these speakers, however you may want to look at the less expensive Polk offerings if you just want to have them serve to provide background music on your patio.
