Position your speakers perfectly with the RM6800 satellites bolt-on swivel wall-mounting brackets with hidden wire channels. Also, the center channel speaker features a cradle that aims the speaker toward the listener, from above or below the TV.
The center channel speaker features dual, 3.5-inch mineral-filled polymer Dynamic Balance midrange drivers that produce clear, distortion-free midrange even at high volume levels. Each satellite speaker uses one of these drivers as well. The .75-inch Dynamic Balance silk/polymer-composite dome tweeter broadcasts sweet highs and lifelike imaging. Dynamic Balance technology produces flat frequency response, sharp detail, transparency and an ability to play program material with wide dynamic range at life-like volume levels without a hint of strain. The sound is always clean, clear and effortless.
All of the satellites feature five-way binding posts. Plus, they're magnetically shielded for safe placement near your state-of-the-art TV or video monitor with no risk of video distortion. The subwoofer has stereo line level (filtered) and single LFE (unfiltered) inputs plus speaker level inputs.
What's in the Box

Bose lost my business thanks to Polk,

This review is from: Polk Audio RM6800 5.1 Channel Home Theater Speaker System (Set of Six, Titanium) (Electronics)
I'm no audiophile. Or maybe I am. I have a hard time believeing there are people with such discriminating ears that they "hate the harshness of digital audio over the warmth of old vinyl"--but maybe they do.
Anyway, I was impressed with the sales presentation Bose set up in their stores with the litle cubes and woofers and the impressive sound from such a seemingly small system. I have been dreaming of replacing my system which had JBL monitors for the front and Boston Acoustics for the rear and an off-brand for the center. Fortunately, I walked into a [Tweeter] store and asked if they had anything comparable to a Bose system, soundwise. To my delight--and surprise--on an objective A/B listening test in their showroom, BY COMPARISON the Bose speakers sounded "echoey" like they were being played through metal cans. I am not denigrating the Bose sound. To the contrary I always liked them, and still do... but in a side-by-side test, the Polks sounded cleaner, truer, and with REALLY good separation. I listened to the opening scene of the movie Ice Age, which has GREAT dynamic range, subtlties, and moving surround, and I found that the audio--even the moving audio really surrounded me! It did not have the sense of "jumping" from this speaker to that... And the ground shook! Awesome presentation! Well, we bought them. Hooked them up to a Pioneer integrated amp system, and things have never been the same. Even with CDs (I turn off the center speaker for music) the room is filled with clean sound, to the point that it's as if I got a whole new set of "better CDs." I am totaly impressed, and if I lost them in a fire, I'd replace them in a heartbeat. Best system I have ever owned.

I'm no expert in audio, but I am an engineer and I know what I like. The RM6800 is a great deal for the money. I have mine driven by a Yamaha HTR-5890. The sats and center speaker are excellent.
My only complaint is the sub, it could do with a little more punch, but again for the money...

I am starting to put together a new home theater system since my Sony receiver and my Bose speakers were getting pretty old. I had pretty much settled on either the Polk Audio RM6800 or RM6900. I finally decided to go with the 6800 (I actually own the black speakers, not the titanium) and I am very pleased with that decision. I hooked them up to my sony receiver (still need to get a new receiver) and my home theatre was suddenly revamped! These speakers sound so good that I am in no real hurry now to get another receiver.
I noticed in my research that Polk Audio gets a lot of bad reviews on their subwoofers. From my persective I can't see why. For me the Subwoofer that came with the system is sufficient (especially considering the price) for what I need. I do have to make adjustments to the volume occasionaly depending on the movie that I am watching, but it doesnt bother me.
