The satellites--which you can mount on walls, shelves, or stands--are slim, shallow, and styled to complement today's flat-panel video monitors such as plasma, LCD, and DLP displays. The stylishly curved satellite enclosures are constructed of heavy duty, non-resonant aluminum; the shape breaks up internal standing-wave resonances so you'll hear clear, lifelike sound.
The slim-line, 100-watt powered subwoofer uses a single 10-inch driver. The driver and the sub's slot-loaded port are mounted on the side, making it easier to tuck the whole unit out of view. When placed in-view, the sub presents a smaller profile than conventionally styled woofers.
The satellites and center speakers each feature two 3.25-inch mineral-filled polymer dynamic-balance midrange drivers for distortion-free midrange reproduction, even at high volume. The broad-dispersion design allows everyone in the listening area to hear clear, well-balanced sound. The satellites' high-performance .75-inch dynamic-balance silk/polymer-composite dome tweeters deliver sweet highs and precise "imaging."
A long-excursion driver coupled with Polk's patented Power Port venting technology makes the lower-midrange response of these satellites much more robust than other similarly sized sat/sub systems. The result is seamless satellite-to-subwoofer blending, rich lower midrange response, and wide dynamic range.
For improved low-end performance, the satellites and center speaker feature Polk's patented Power Port technology. Convenient and high-quality 5-way binding-post terminals accept bare wire, spade lugs, or banana plugs. Additional satellites are sold individually so you can step up to a 6.1 or 7.1 systems as your space and surround receiver allow.
The system comes with wall-mount brackets for the satellites that permit up to 15 degrees of lateral movement. Built-in threaded inserts allow the use of fully articulating wall-mount brackets (optional). The system's matching center-channel speaker also features wall-mounting brackets and a clever "cradle" that lets you aim the speaker upward or downward when it's mounted on a video display or shelf. Additionally, the RM6900 includes stands for table-top satellite mounting. Speaker cable is not included.
What's in the Box
Six speakers (front left/right, center speaker, left/right surrounds, and a powered subwoofer), wall-mount brackets for center and satellites, 2 table stands for the satellites, and a user's manual.

Reasonably Priced Surround Sound package,

I purchased this speaker system to replace a Bose Lifestyle system that I moved to another room. I have to say that the sound quality is surprisingly better than Bose's much more expensive cube speakers and Acoustimass module. The included setup directions were easy to follow, but I did double check information on the Polk Audio website and found a great deal more detail on the best configuration for home theater speakers. The included wall mounting brackets were quite easy to use. I didn't need the front speaker stands and I am not sure who would actually use them (they have a large footprint but are less than a foot tall). Overall, I think for $800 this is a pretty good speaker solution for a 5.1 home theater speaker package.

The Polk Audio RM6900 5.1 cnannel home theater Speaker System has proved to live up to its reputation. I tried out several speaker systems in that class including the Bose Acoustimass 6 and 10 and found a clear difference. The Polk of course being superior in all aspects. It was very easy to assemble but required speaker wires that was not supplied with it (unlike Bose). The set up was quite simple and step by step assembly is provided.
The transaction was effortless and the merchandice was shipped promptly. When I purchased the product it was priced at $999 but it dropped to $799 a week later. I contacted Amazon and they refunded the difference without any questions. ZG

These Speakers are the Best Bang for the Buck,

I limited myself to about $1000 in total of what I could spend on a Surround sound system for my HDTV. I wanted something not so obtrusive and something that would rock the house if I wanted to. I spent weeks, make that months researching reading reviews, forums and actually going to stores and people's houses to hear what they had.
I narrowed it down to the two best systems I could buy as a package: JBL and Polk Audio. Evey pair of JBL's I have had have rocked when hooked up to a proper reciever such as Marantz, Denon or Harmon Kardon. Even my truck has JBL's and they rock for a factory system. So the Polk was going to have to edge them out significantly or I was set on JBL. So I went to Circuit City spent like 2 hours comparing the RM series to Boston's JBL's, Bose and every thing else. The Polk has the best range out of any of them and if you listen to an orchestra or any type of music that will involve lots of unique sounds you will definitly notice the difference. They didn't put the JBL's or Boston's to shame but they embarrased the Bose system. In my house they fill the room and the house with clarity even at the top decible range. I knew I made the right decision when we were watching CSI quietly on TV, and my better half went silent for a brief moment and thought there was a helocopter flying over our neighborhood at 10:00 pm and it was really just the show. At such a low volume even the surrounds come to life in a way no other speakers I have had could match. Granted you can definately spend a lot more money and get a lot more speaker, but unless you have a really big room you wouldn't need anything more than these to get the same effect as a movie theatre. I have these speakers hooked up to a Harmon Kardon AVR-635 which I got wit a 5 year warrenty Open Box from Circuit City which has amazing clarity output, and all speakers run through Python 14 guage speaker wire. I chose Python because it has the same oxygen free copper wire and construction grade of Monster for 1/5th the price. So when I broke it down: $599 for $1200 speakers. $400 for an $800 Reciver and 150 Ft of cable for $40. I really do feel I got a $2000 system for $1000 out of my pocket.
