Just replaced a set of MTX XT603 speakers with these, and the clarity is night and day difference. These just fill my car with so much more crisp clear sound. While the MTX speakers were nice, these just put out a much better soundstage. The tweeters are also aimable, and I like that a lot. The MTX tweeters just shot the sound at my feet, while these are directed upwards and towards my ears. Construction of these speakers seem very clean and solid.
Right now they are only running at 22rms, but before install, I hooked em up to my rear amp and they came much more alive even at just 40rms. Will be putting a 4 channel amp in this week to power both front(Polk) and rear(Morel) speakers at 50rms(100rms if I decide to wire them at 2 ohms). Will update this review after I amp them, and get everything just right. Off straight headunit power, they sound nice...however, amping these will bring out a whole new level of enjoyment that is otherwise hidden by low powered headunit juice.
*Btw...I set my headunits HPF(high pass filter) at 80hz and let the lone 12" Infinity sub handle the frequencies below that, so I cant say much for the bass response of these speakers. But even cutting out the low frequencies below 80hz, and just running headunit power to them, these speakers are freeakin sweeet! For the price(I paid 40-shipped) you cant go wrong.(note- got mine as "open box" and they looked untouched)
4 out of 5 stars for the "un-amped" listening experience!

UPDATE...these speakers are now amped at 50watts rms each, and the clarity and imaging just got sooo much better! They were good before on the headunits 20rms, but at 50rms its like Ive awakened the dragon inside of them. Would love to hear them 100rms, but cant swing another amp just yet with the holidays coming up.

these have a great sound. I have worked with audio including high end home audio for over 6 years and these definitely have a good sound to them. a bit warmer than my old infinitys but I like a warmer sounding speaker. if you want brighter highs go with an aluminum dome instead. these are worth the money though.

08 Silverado front door speakers quit on me, and thought it might be radio unit. After reading threads on Chevrolet repair issue, decided to order these from Crutchfield. Installed myself (not to hard, and I'm not a mechanic) and they sound great....especially the highs and mid range. Bass is weaker than originals, but love them. They would sound even better with an amp and sub woofer, but don't need a symphony just yet. If you have a Chev or GM truck from @ 2005 to new and your speakers quit, it is NOT the radio/CD/Onstar.....replace the speakers!

About a year ago I purchased a pair of Kenwood's (Kenwood kfc-g 1620) for the front doors of my car, a 2001 Honda Accord. They were better than stock, infinitley clearer, punchy-er bass, and nice crisp treble, but they weren't really impressing me. To balance my Kenwoods I purchased a pair of Polk DXi690's, the sister pair to the DXi650, and replaced my rear speakers. This sort-of worked and my over all audio quality was vastly improved. The only problem was that the Polks WAY overpowered the Kenwoods (I had to set the Front-Rear fade on 5 to the Front just to even the sound out, and then I was risking blowing the Kenwoods when I would turn the volume past 20) and the quality got fairly muddy at higher volumes. After a while I was deciding wether or not to get a small subwoofer, or purchase Polks for the front.

Finally, a year later, I purchased the Polk DXi650's. I am BLOWN AWAY, by the quality of these speakers. They are sturdy and feel very high end and look very nice out of the box, just as the DXi690s did. The magnet is TWICE the size of the Kenwoods I had. Upon turning the key and giving them the first listen, I was shocked. These speakers paired with the Polks in the rear of my car are astounding. They embarrased my Kenwoods. Even running off of a 50 watt headunit, they slam bass, sing highs, and deliver smooth and accurate mid range sound. If you have an amp or crossover these things will most likely sound even more incredible. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and would reccommed anyone thinking of purchasing these to also get the Polk DXi690's, you will NOT regret it. For such a good price on Amazon, who wouldn't want to pick these up?

Installed these in a 95 Camry and they sound great. To my surprise the stock speakers had slightly better bass but overall these were an upgrade in sound quality. My only complaint was that the mounting adapters were useless in my application so I had to do some adapting.

Just installed these in the front doors of my 2006 Toyota Matrix to replace the stock speakers and they sound fantastic. The install was a little involving but these speakers were the perfect size to fit into the plastic factory brackets after cutting out the stock factory paper speakers. (there was a great guide online for the identical installation process for a Pontiac Vibe)

I had to do a little EQ tweaking on my aftermarket Kenwood receiver since it had been previously setup for paper speakers but it was worth the tweaking for my car's particular sound profile--having the speakers at tire/foot-level in the door with no mid/tweeters mounted higher at dash-level can make things tough.

As a musician I appreciate how these speakers really bring out the backing vocals, bass lines and reproduce the full mix as it was intended. I also listen to a lot of podcasts and it helps me understand the speakers more clearly without cranking the volume up too high.

I rated this 5 stars based on the price and how it compares to my home theater and the reference speakers I use on my pc. You could spend more cash and get better sound but my car has so much road noise that this appears to be right in the sweet spot of price and discernible sound quality.
