For some reason hardly anyone makes large traditional box speakers anymore. You can either buy tower speakers, or bookshelf speakers. I needed something that would fit in a space no wider than 8 inches. I bought these and they sound wonderful. The mid ranges are very present and not drowned out by a lot of over done base. I guess if you want a thump box, then either get a sub woofer or look elsewhere. Once I got the speakers out of the box, the feet attach easily, but they also make the speaker width not 7.75 inches, but add 1.5 inches to each side of the base. You must connect the feet so the speaker will set level on the ground because of the front face plate is lower than the speaker enclosure. To solve my problem I made my own feet out of a 2x4 that bolts to the speaker in the same way the polk feet do, but also have four 2" deck screws that run thru the 2x4 and leave a half inch spike in the bottom. They are much less stable this way, but my speakers fit inside a wall cavity and can't be tipped over due to the wall, so it works for me. The speakers are set up for Bi-Amping. Currently I only have one amp feeding them and need to read up on how to get the full sound out these speakers, even though they sound wonderful now. I'm very happy with them. Bach sounds great, so does Paul Simon, and the Police.

Best addition to a system I have ever made. I even have to turn off the subwoofer to avoid things falling off the wall.Very classy looking as well.

I ordered these after a lot of homework on Infinity/Polk comparison. Finally i purchased the RTi10s and i am quite pleased. I use the bi-amping feature and the serve as my two front channels. After a lot of deliberation and reading all the good and contrary reviews i am glad i made this purchase (they arrived in good time). Be sure to ming the measurements as these are fairly tall standing floor speakers. So much so that as they sit next to my flat screen they prevent me from turning the TV to the side (just 1 ft too tall and of course i mounted the tv before owning these items..small loss). But i am quite pleased as i felt they filled in the surround sound speakers lack of mid range for music and straight stereo applications.

These speakers are great. I paired them with all Polk speakers for a 7.1 setup and I am not disappointed. Last night I cranked the system for the first time and they delivered crisp, clean sound. I did end up getting the Polk 10" sub. Without the sub, they do well but they don't shake the ground during explosions or heavy action scenes. For me, the midtones are where they shine. This speaker fills in the gaps! I'm not much of a tactful reviewer but I highly recommend spending a little more on these over the RTi8 units. I am soooo satisfied.

I just purchased a pair of the Polk RTi-10's through Amazon at a great price and free shipping. They are replacing a pair of very good Infinity RS-5,s,which will be used elsewhere in my home. The RTi-10,s are excellent!! They are as good or better than speakers costing much more. After the "break-in" period they will be better yet. And here's the bonus--- Polk threw in a free PSW-10 subwoofer!!

Great sound for the price,

I picked these up about a week ago from J&R in Manhattan, taking the advice of someone else who wrote a review on here since these are $118 each to get shipped. The pickup was relatively trouble-free; I was in and out in about an hour, with an extra 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get them to fit in my civic while still in the monstrous boxes (they eventually did). It was definitely worth saving the extra $236 for a few hours of my time and some added frustration of driving in Manhattan.I tested these against my previous [8 to 10 year] old Polk towers once I got these hooked up and I was definitely impressed. I immediately noticed the bass response on these speakers; it was very full-sounding, even without my subwoofer turned on. It took a little while before I noticed that I was hearing highs and some mids that I wasn't hearing before with my old speakers as well. I'm just using these with a single, 100-watt amp, so I'm sure that they're not producing anywhere near what they are capable of, but it's good enough for me without getting into bi-amping. Acoustically, they seem to reproduce mids and highs similar to my Csi3 Center channel speaker, which I've been very pleased with since purchasing a year and a half ago. I'd definitely say that the most noteworthy contribution is in the bass though; the well-ported cabinets shake the walls in my apartment and reproduce the bass very clearly almost making my subwoofer (psw110) seem a less clear. They're great to look at too - covers on or off; they are a few inches short of four feet and pretty wide (wider than described because you need to add the feet that they sit on so add about 3 inches to the description...about 10 inches wide each). I definitely recommend these; I don't think you can find a front-channel speaker that's as good as this is for $250.

I'm not an audio expert.. but certainly no need for a sub woofer with these big boys. The only negative is that both boxes were in taters when they arrived at the door. But fortunately speakers were in perfect condition.

I have had these speakers for a few months now and I am very happy. I purchased them from J&R in NYC for $500 for the pair including tax. J&R even paid for my parking when I went to pick them up. These speakers love power and if you are not getting enough bass you need a better amp or AVR or a better recording. I get plenty of bass. I get so much bass, I no longer use my Polk sub when listening to music. I run these bi-amp with a Yamaha v667 AVR and Onkyo SACD player. I don't know if I would buy these having to pay big bucks for shipping but if you are in the NYC area go to J&R and get these.

I upgraded from a 5 year old sony HTIB to Polk Audio after experiencing my friend's setup. He had RTI8 and I got the RTI10's. I could not believe the sound quality, esp. the highs and mid's. You need good highs and mids for Bollywood music. My old sony receiver could not do justice to this speaker and had to upgrade to a Yamaha receiver. This did bring the speakers to life. I would suggest have a good denon or yamaha speaker that can drive these speakers esp. one that can deliver 80+ watts @ 8 ohms. You will not be unhappy.I paired it with CSI5 center channel and RTI4 for surrounds. Next I am going to try to bi-amp the fronts after I read on how to do it.

The speakers sound great. They have a wide range and I bought them for a great price on amazon. This is my first pair of tower speakers so I don't have any thing to compare them to, but I love them. The only problem is the design. It is mandatory that the speakers have the feet connected to them before they are stood up. If the feet are not connected there is a plastic piece that hangs in the front and will break off if the user attempts to stand the speakers without the feet. |
