Polk RTi6 or JBL L830???,

Well for your money I would get the polk. Today I went to a high end audio shop and tested the above mentioned. I got to tell you for a two way they had great mid range real nice and life like. The high end was vary natural sounding and the bass was there but not everywhere and vary responsive and crisp (just the way I like I). Low treble, high treble, low bass, high bass they still sounded good (thou with all treble taking out they got a bit muddy, witch would be good for TV actually). High and low volumes still give the same sound, I did notice a lot of the bass left around listening volume, but a little bump on the bass brought it right back up. The JBL sounded exactly the same, only that the vocals and higher mids where more pronounced and "I-sword-I-was-there-ness". They didn't get mudy with all the treble taking out and incredibly crisp with the treble up (they sounded better in other words). The polk would make decent front speakers for a good sized TV but I think they would be a bit much for anything under 27 inch or so...
Considering the L830's are twice as much I'd get the Polk if you have listened to the JBLL830 but not the Polk, about all you would lose would be a stronger mid range and life like ness. Also the store was running them 10% and about this price so this is about as low a price that you will find for new ones. P.S. That IS real cherry veneer.

Beautiful to see and hear! Prosumer gear here. I got the matched pair to produce and monitor the main virtual pipe organ sounds from my pro-grade synthesizer workstation. My background includes professional work at a government acoustical research facility, broadcast radio, music production as a musician both acoustic and electronic. Accurate sound production is important to me. I completed the system with a matched Polk 12" powered sub-woofer. My preferred music to play and listen is pipe organ and electronic sythesizer both of which span the entire human audible range. These do the job (provided you are not trying to fill the volume of a church or concert hall) for my critical ears. I am a long time physics teacher (translation: not rich) so the price is right as well.

Excellent Speakers incredible tone and quality, beautiful cherry wood workmanship, sound great throughout the entire sound spectrum I highly recommend them. I use them with the Polk Audio Center channel CSI3,it is also excellent and Crutchfield was quick and efficient too. Polk Audio RTi6 High Performance Bookshelf Speakers, Pair (Cherry)

These are some of the "Richest"sounding speakers you will hear.Very full and smooth.Never mind the modest price, they compare extremely well with speakers costing twice the price. When set up correctly(Bi-amping,which is easy to do)they become almost transparent and present a 3-dimensional sound stage.Fit and finish(real Cherry Veneer)are a plus, something that is lacking on even higher priced speakers.Even my wife likes these.Believe me You won't be disapointed.
